GreedFall’s Flexible Combat Feels Fantastic to Play

GreedFall has quietly flown under my radar since it’s announcement back in 2017, but finally caught my eye by chance when I saw a giant, tree-like monster fighting the main character on one of our displays at the office after E3 this year Magic, swords, and monsters are up-my-alley--so I was excited to play a hands-on demo with developer Spiders at Gamescom 2019. I went in a bit skeptical, but left with GreedFall as one of my most anticipated games this year.

GreedFall is a big historical-fantasy RPG with plenty of systems to dive into and things to get side-tracked by while exploring.  You can read a great overview of what GreedFall is here, and watch this developer interview with gameplay below to learn more. Here’s a quick rundown before we get into how it feels to play, which is, spoiler: fun.

Spider-Man Ride is at the Heart of Disney’s Avengers Campus Theme Park Expansion

Spider-Man may be leaving the MCU (at least for now), but the web-slinger will still be front and center at Disney's theme parks around the world. At Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, Disney Parks chairman Bob Chapek previewed the upcoming Avengers Campus expansion coming to Disney's California Adventure, Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland, which will open with a new Spider-Man centric ride.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad Adds Nathan Fillion

A James Gunn favorite is joining his upcoming DC film, The Suicide Squad: Nathan Fillion.

Deadline reports Fillion will be playing an as-yet unrevealed role, saying the part is being "kept under wraps."

Fillion is one of Gunn's closest friends and has appeared in many of his projects. In addition to playing Bill Pardy in 2006's Slither and the Holy Avenger in 2010's Super, Fillion had a very CG-heavy cameo in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy as the "monstrous inmate" the Guardians face off against on Kyln.

Marvel’s Avengers: 11 Legendary Heroes Who Need to be DLC

Marvel's Avengers will give players the chance to take direct control of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Or some of them, anyway. The game looks to be focusing on a core cast that includes Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Black Widow. That barely scratches the surface of Marvel heroes who have served as Avengers over the decades. Fortunately, we know developer Crystal Dynamics will be releasing new characters as free DLC post-release.

While there are literally hundreds of characters to choose from, we assume Crystal Dynamics will be sticking to characters with similar powers and abilities as that main cast of five. After all, they can't risk breaking the balance of a game with a significant online component. With that in mind, here are the Marvel heroes we want to see as playable DLC.

Holland & Pratt Recorded Onward Scenes Together for Emotional Impact

We caught up with the filmmakers behind Pixar Animation’s upcoming fantasy Onward at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday, who revealed that unlike in most animated films they were able to actually get their main stars together to record -- albeit just once.

Onward stars MCU veterans Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left in the world. Set in a modern fantasy world, Disney and Pixar’s Onward is inspired by director Dan Scanlon’s personal experiences with his brother.

Scanlon revealed they were able to actually record with Holland and Pratt together at one point. “We were able to get them together once and it was so fun just watching them talk to each other,” Scanlon said. “They’re clearly friends and watching them make each other laugh. And just this sort of big brotherly quality Chris has with Tom.”

The Eternals: Angelina Jolie Explains Why This Is the MCU Movie She Said ‘Yes’ To

Angelina Jolie is officially entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to her role as Thena in Marvel's The Eternals. IGN caught up with Jolie following the 2020 film's D23 Expo debut during the Disney Studios Theatrical panel to discuss why this was the Marvel movie she said "yes" to.

"When they called me in for this, I'm a big fan of the director

, and I think she's going to make a very special film," Jolie said. (You can watch the full interview above.)

just a really a love letter to Earth and very character-based, but also very, very big and we're going to expand a long period of time and try different things. I love the storytelling, and I happen to love Thena. She's very aggressive and I like her and I'm ready for that now."

Why Sam Wilson Isn’t Captain America in Falcon and the Winter Soldier

When Steve Rogers handed his shield to Sam Wilson at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans assumed that the Star-Spangled Man was also handing over the mantle of Captain America to his longtime ally.

But according to Anthony Mackie, Sam Wilson isn't Captain America when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier kicks off (which explains why the Disney+ series isn't called Captain America and the Winter Soldier).

"I’m not Captain America. Just because he told me to hold his shield, he didn’t say 'you’re Captain America now,'" Mackie pointed out when talking to IGN on the Disney+ red carpet at Disney's D23 Expo. "He’s like, 'I’m gonna go back and see my girl, call me if something happens. I don’t wanna carry this dumb shield.'"

Angelina Jolie Had No Idea Kit Harington Was Cast in The Eternals

Marvel fans were surprised to learn Kit Harington is joining the cast of The Eternals, but apparently not as surprised as co-star Angeline Jolie. Jolie didn't find out Harington had signed on to play Dane Whitman until he joined the rest of the cast on-stage at D23.

In an interview with ET, Jolie admitted she and her fellow cast members were taken aback by the sudden announcement.

"I'm not so sure what we can say," Jolie told ET. "I still think we're seeing each other behind the scenes, like, 'Did you hear...?' I didn't know Kit was in the film! It's a whole thing. I'm thrilled, but I had no idea."
