The Little Mermaid: Javier Bardem Reported to Play King Triton
Oscar winner Javier Bardem is the latest name being attached to Disney's live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
According to The DisInsider, Bardem is reportedly currently in talks to play the role of King Triton, the famously overprotective (albeit well meaning) father of Ariel, who will be portrayed by singer-actor Halle Bailey in the upcoming remake.
This wouldn't be a completely fish-out-of-water role for Bardem, as he is well known for playing imposing figures on the silver screen, having previously portrayed the ultra-chilling cyber-terrorist Raoul Silva in Skyfall, and Captain Salazar, the fearsome pirate-hunter in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Trailer Coming Saturday
Kevin Smith has announced that the trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will be shown at Comic-Con this weekend, and will be available online shortly after.
Smith’s Hall H panel takes place on Saturday evening after the Marvel Studios panel, and will be the debut for the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot trailer. In an Instagram post revealing the news, Smith promised that the trailer will “go out to the world soon after”, suggesting fans won’t have to wait long until the trailer is uploaded online.
The Instagram post also includes a new poster for the reboot of Bluntman and Chronic, the fictional film around which the plot of Jay and Silent Bob Reboot revolves. Taking big cues from Batman vs Superman and Captain Marvel, the film will clearly be at home in a movie lampooning superhero flicks and reboots.

Minecraft Earth Beta Goes Live in London and Seattle
Minecraft Earth is now live in London and Seattle, allowing early beta testers to bring their blocky builds into the real world using AR technology.
The Beta is closed, meaning only a handful of people are currently able to play - though Mojang says more cities should go live in "the next few days."
The first few gameplay impressions players have posted show a setup similar to titles like Niantic's Pokémon Go. You can stroll through your local neighbourhood and use your smartphone to explore a virtual version of the area peppered with items and mini-games.
Like Harry Potter: Wizard's Unite's confoundable mechanic, Minecraft Earth will eventually have "adventures" where opportunities pop up on the map to fight monsters or gather resources. However, this and the game's in-app store are currently unavailable for the beta. Instead, the beta focuses on introducing the game's build mechanics.

In addition to the cool horror icons, there are a bunch of neat figures from the Terminator, Alien and Predator movies, including a Parker action figure from Alien, a 1/4 scale Alien, a “Rhino Alien”, Arnold and Sarah Connor figures from Terminator: Dark Fate, and several Predator variants, including the awesome looking Alpha Predator.
It Chapter Two Comic Con Footage Reveals Iconic Losers’ Club Scene
New footage from It Chapter Two was screened at ScareDiego -- New Line Cinema and Warner Bros.’ horror-themed kick-off event to San Diego Comic-Con -- on Wednesday night, providing press and attendees with their first look at the second trailer for the film as well as three scary scenes from the sequel to the 2017 blockbuster. (The second trailer drops Thursday at 9am PT.)
Moderator Conan O'Brien introduced director Andy Muschietti and the cast playing the adult versions of the Losers' Club: James McAvoy (Bill), Jessica Chastain (Beverly), Bill Hader (Richie), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike), Jay Ryan (Ben), James Ransone (Eddie), and Andy Bean (Stanley).
Muschietti proceeded to reveal three scenes from It Chapter Two ... and they didn't disappoint in getting under one's skin. Per the studio (and Conan!), I'm going to be very mindful of SPOILERS.
