The 8 Greatest E3 Moments (Of The Last 10 Years)
E3 is upon us and it’s a time to reflect on all the moments that make us sit up and say “hey it was really worth getting up at 6am on a Monday morning to watch the Xbox confe rence because I live in Australia”. These are the moments that made us gasp in astonishment, cheer with abandonment, and cry with deep nostalgia. Here are the X greatest E3 moments of the last 10 years.
8 Gabe Newell on the PlayStation Stage, 2010
Valve boss Gabe Newell was always famously outspoken about never wanting to develop games on consoles, particularly the PlayStation 3. So it was a massive surprise to everyone, then, when in 2010 he appeared on the Sony stage to announce that Portal 2 would be landing on the console. Way to go, Gabe.
Old Pokemon Leak Full of Details Gets Further Potential Confirmation
Update 2, 8/7/19: Well, here we are again, my PokeFriends. After Pokemon's June Nintendo Direct echoed information allegedly revealed in leak from May, and then a trailer in July bolstered that leak's potential legitimacy, today's newest Sword and Shield trailer has once again officially confirmed details first mentioned in that now three-month-old leak.
This time around, the new trailer lines up with the leak by showing off the soccer hooligan-style Team Yell, as well as the fact that your rivals will be named Bede and Marnie. It also confirms regional forms similar to Sun and Moon's Alolan Pokemon, and the leak even said there would be "regional evolutions" - an idea that initially caused some confusion, but has also been backed up by the Galarian Zigzagoon seemingly having a new evolution of its own.
Sony Has the Best Response About If Next-Gen Will Be the End of Consoles
In an interview with CNET, President and CEO of Sony’s PlayStation division Jim Ryan was asked if the PlayStation 5 will be Sony's “last console."
To this, Ryan responded "Who knows how it might evolve? Hybrid models between console and some sort of cloud model? Possibly that. I just don't know. And if I did know, I wouldn't tell you."
Elsewhere in the interview, Ryan discussed the evolution of consoles and their interplay with cloud gaming.
"This transition is probably gonna be more interesting than any other we've seen in the past. We obviously have one recently announced new entrant into the gaming space
People Are Really Upset About Apple’s $999 Monitor Stand
On Monday Apple revealed an all-new Mac Pro at its WWDC event in San Jose and a swanky 6K professional monitor to go with it, but what really made headlines was the cost for the monitor's stand; a ridiculous $999. The audience seemed to laugh when the price was projected onto the screen, but it's really the price of what is just a stand. There's no input/output ports or Thunderbolt connections; it's just a stand. Granted, it looks pretty nice and all, but $999? For a monitor stand?

In addition to sharing a bunch of new concept art, the team shared some interesting details on what players can expect when they finally jump into the world of Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Bane Reveals His Master Plan to Finally Break Batman
The latest chapter of Batman reveals the full scope of Bane's plot to destroy the Dark Knight.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Batman #72!
This new issue makes it clear that every Batman issue dating back to the beginning of the series is connected. Every story since "I Am Gotham" has been part of Bane's complex plan to psychologically destroy Batman. Even as Batman and Bane battle it out inside Wayne Manor, a series of narrative captions from the Thomas Wayne of the Flashpoint universe connect the dots of the previous 71 issues.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated Announced
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, a “faithfully remade” version of the 2003 cult classic, has officially been announced for modern systems.
Revealed by the official THQ Nordic Twitter account, Rehydrated is being developed by Purple Lamp Studios and is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The post also confirmed that it is, unfortunately, not coming to E3 2019.
The official trailer’s description confirmed a new multiplayer mode, reading "Are you ready, kids? The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs. Want to save Bikini Bottom from lots of rampant robots? Of course you do! Want to underpants bungee jump? Why wouldn't you! Want to join forces in a brand new multiplayer mode? The battle is on!"
IT Chapter Two Confirmed for Comic-Con 2019
Pennywise is prepared to haunt San Diego Comic-Con 2019 this year with IT Chapter Two slated to have a presence this year, but not in WB's familiar Hall H setting.
Director Andy Muschetti confirmed on his Instagram that the highly anticipated IT sequel will be present at SDCC, but it will be showcased at WB's "ScareDiego" event adjacent to SDCC. WB will be specifically focusing on its horror slate during the yearly convention, foregoing any sort of Hall H panel presence as has been a staple in years past.
As a result, WB will not be spotlighting its upcoming superhero slate as it has in previous years, with the studio's Hall H panel having showings of Wonder Woman 1984 and Shazam in 2018.
How Marvel’s First Gay Movie Superhero Can Be a Success
Although Marvel Studios has proven to be the most successful movie franchise of all time, they still have room to grow, especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ representation. Queer characters have appeared before in Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows like Runaways and Jessica Jones, but it wasn’t until the release of Avengers: Endgame that they were actually acknowledged in Marvel’s movies when a mourner recounted his same-sex date.
Even then, the brief inclusion of one gay character didn’t make up for all the times that Marvel didn’t seize the opportunity to express the queerness of other LGBTQ+ characters on the big screen. Loki, Valkyrie, Ayo and even Korg have all enjoyed queer relationships in the comics, but you wouldn’t know that from watching any of Marvel’s movies. While Loki and Korg haven’t expressed a sexuality of any kind in the movies, both Valkyrie and Ayo were denied the chance to do so when scenes portraying them as queer were cut from Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther before final release.
What We Want From Halo Infinite at E3
The lead up to Master Chief’s journey in Halo 5 Guardians was as neat as it was confusing. My questions about the goofy cloak over Master Chief’s armor were quickly eclipsed by the excitement brought by the menace that waited for him in the sand in Halo 5’s reveal trailer. From there, things got creative. We learned about Locke’s hunt for the Chief and his collaboration with the Arbiter at E3 2014. There was even an incredible audio series recounting the Chief’s journey from the respective of a reporter and a rebel leader. Regardless of how Halo 5 turned out, the lead up to it was a fun way to get to know the Chief better. E3 is approaching, and with Microsoft talking so much about it being one of its biggest shows ever, I have high expectations for information on Halo Infinite.
