The Best VR Games for the Oculus Quest

Note that if you click on one of these links to buy the product, IGN may get a share of the sale. For more, read our Terms of Use.

The Oculus Quest is finally here (as of May 21st), making wireless, room-scale virtual reality an affordable reality—no PC required. The headset is launching with over 50 games, but there are a few that stand out from the pack.

You can read more about the Quest in our review, but it comes in two sizes: a 64GB version for $399, and a 128GB version for $499. So far, most games seem to come in around 1GB or less, but that could change if developers push more and more full-size games to the headset. If you've already purchased a game for the Rift you should be able to carry it over to the Quest, but details on how that works, or if it is indeed the case, have not been released yet. For now, here are the games you should try out first.

Games Seemingly Pull Out of Epic Store Sale

The Epic Games Store began its “Mega Epic Sale,” but has hit some snags along the way, including two games being pulled off the store.

The Mega Epic Sale is offering some pretty major discounts, particularly the sweeping promotion where Epic itself is offering $10 off on all games priced $14.99 or higher, meaning games like Super Meat Boy that are normally $14.99 can currently be purchased for $4.99.

This discount comes courtesy of Epic itself, suggesting they’re paying for portions of the discount that extend beyond their 12% cut of the profits. This discount applies to games already on sale, so long as the sale price is above $14.99. Even unreleased games available for pre-purchase are receiving the discount, and everyone who pre-purchased an unreleased game prior to May 16 for $14.99 and above will get a $10 refund.

Destiny 2 Is Nerfing the Best Weapon in the Game (Whisper of the Worm)

This week one of the most coveted weapons in Destiny 2 is getting nerfed, and saying fans are not happy would be an understatement. In the most recent “This Week at Bungie” it was revealed that The Whisper of the Worm, an exotic sniper rifle that has infinite ammo if you hit critical spots, will no longer have that ability. Instead, it will only have 18 rounds and while you’ll never have to reload it will now stop after you’ve exhausted your magazine. The nerfing of weapons and armor continues to occur with the Destiny sandbox time and time again even after promises that this design strategy would no longer occur. With Whisper specifically, it’s an exact recreation of the Black Hammer nerf that happened in the original Destiny.

Other Mario Styles We Want to See in Super Mario Maker 2

Nintendo’s latest Mario Maker-focused Direct provided a boatload of information on the upcoming Super Mario Maker 2. But it was the one thing they didn’t show that piqued my interest the most.

In the brief moment where switching game styles was shown, the Mario 3D World style stood alone in an “Extra Game Styles” section with a space next to it that looked conveniently large enough for another game style to appear. There’s a good possibility that we were purposely not shown one final Mario style that we’ll be able to build levels in. Given the degree to which the Mario 3D World lets you change up your designs, we got to thinking: what could this mystery style be?

Minecraft Earth Is Minecraft + Pokemon Go

Mojang and Microsoft have announced Minecraft Earth, an augmented reality mobile game that combines elements of Minecraft and games like Pokemon Go.

Revealed on the official Minecraft website, Minecraft Earth allows players to collect, explore, collaborate and survive while exploring and building new Minecraft creations in the real world. Like in the original Minecraft, which is celebrating it’s tenth anniversary, Minecraft Earth features old and new mobs, and over time players will discover new variants they can use to populate their builds. For example, you can find Minecraft pigs just hanging out in your neighborhood park.

Riot Games Keeps Arbitration Clause After Walkout

Riot Games has announced that it will not be eliminating the arbitration clause for current employees that moved some 200-250 employees to stage a walkout last Monday.

Now, nearly two weeks after the demonstration, Riot Games announced in a blog post that "given the complexities of ongoing litigation, we will not change our employee agreements while in active litigation."

"We know not everyone agrees with this decision, but we also know everyone does want Riot to continue to improve. We remain committed to having a firm answer around extending an opt-out to all Rioters when active litigation concludes," it read.

In a statement to IGN, the walkout's organizers say the policy is "unlikely to change anytime soon. We’re disappointed leadership doesn’t seem to be considering any major changes to their active policy." They go on to say that while they will continue organizing in the coming weeks, "our main goal is to make sure that workers at Riot feel heard and represented, and above all, safe."
