The Insider’s Guide to Mario Maker’s Secret Language
When Super Mario Maker released on the Wii U in 2015, many fans joked that Nintendo never needed to make another 2D Mario again - that the fans would ecstatically make the next generation of 2D Mario for them.
While it is interesting to imagine a large developer letting its community take the reins on a major franchise, in Mario Maker that wasn’t necessarily the case. With the blocks finally in their own hands, Mario fans didn’t want to create traditional levels, and instead proceeded to create eclectic and amazing new challenges that Nintendo never envisioned (or did, and deemed too frightening for the average player.)

Poll Results – Who Will Die in Avengers: Endgame?
With Avengers: Endgame almost upon us, one of the biggest questions looming over the superhero epic is… which hero is going to die? After all, the filmmakers have said that Endgame will be a literal ending for some characters, and depending on how you read into that, it could mean certain death for one (or more) of the Avengers.
So as we endure the agonizing wait for the film to finally release, we’re killing time (ha) by getting everyone to weigh in on who they think will die. We polled the IGN community both on the site and on social media, and had our entire staff weigh in, as well. The parameters of the poll allowed for one of the 16 characters with an “alive” Endgame character poster to be selected as the one person who is most likely to die. As in, permanently dead, six feet under, no resurrections, by the conclusion of Endgame (and they're still dead after any credits scenes!).
5 More Games Crazy Rich People Should Make Real
“What?! You still play your games on TVs? Like a baby?” was not a phrase I expected us to get to as a society so quickly. Or, at least, it will be - if the anonymous millionaires out there have their way.
Okay, maybe you’re lacking some important context. ICYMI, there’s an anonymous rich dude who wants to fund a real-life battle royale tournament on a private island. Sure, they say it will only be using airsoft weapons, but I’m betting there’s still at least a 40% chance that this ends with people being hunted for sport, Dangerous Game-style.
Enter the Gungeon Adds Dog Petting After Being Called out on Twitter
Enter the Gungeon, a bullet hell roguelike originally released in 2016, has officially added the ability to pet dogs after a popular Twitter account noted its previous inability to do so.
On March 8, the Twitter account @CanYouPetTheDog, which has done the holy work of cataloging which games let you pet dogs and which games appallingly don’t, tweeted out “You cannot pet the dog in Enter the Gungeon.” Fortuitously, developer Dodge Roll’s Dave Crooks was tagged in a comment, subsequently replying “Hold my beer."
Dragon Age 4 Is Reportedly Influenced by a Canceled Dragon Age Project
The upcoming fourth entry into BioWare’s Dragon Age series was reportedly rebooted in 2017, and is allegedly influenced by a canceled Dragon Age project the studio had potentially been working on since 2015.
Kotaku reports that the current version of Dragon Age 4 began development under the codename Morrison while the canceled project was known by the codename Joplin. Morrison is reportedly being made on Anthem’s tools and codebase, and is planned to have a “live service component” designed to sustain long-term gameplay and revenue. The current project is reportedly being made in BioWare’s primary Edmonton offices.
The Last Jedi Director Is Okay With JJ Abrams Retconning Rey’s Parentage
Star Wars: The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson, recently said he is just along for the ride regarding Episode 9, and that he is happy with whatever J.J. Abrams decides to revise – specifically surrounding Rey's parents.
In an interview with MTV News, Johnson said, "I've actually really enjoyed kind of sitting back, waiting to get my popcorn opening day and see how the thing turns out. I cannot wait."
When asked about if Abrams retcons the lineage of Rey's parents and if it would bother him, Johnson shook his head and said, "Like I said man, I want to let go of all my expectations. I want to sit back. I want to be entertained. I want to be surprised. I want to be thrilled. I want him to do stuff that I wasn't expecting him to do, and just go along for the ride. For me, that's why I go to the movies, you know?"
Billy Crystal, John Goodman Return for Monsters, Inc. Disney+ Series
Monsters at Work, an animated sequel series based on Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., is coming to the Disney+ streaming service, with Billy Crystal and John Goodman reprising their roles as Mike and Sulley.

The series will introduce new monsters alongside several returning favorites, such as John Ratzenberger’s Yeti, Jennifer Tilly's Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson as Roze, the twin sister of the original film’s Roz. Monsters at Work follows Ben Feldman’s Tylor Tuskmon, an eager and talented young mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team who dreams of working his way up to the factory Laugh Floor to work alongside his idols Mike and Sulley.
