343’s Kiki Wolfkill: Living With Tough Skin
Editors Note: This year, for International Women's Day, we wanted to open our platform up to developers to share their experiences, their thoughts, and their messages to the community as we all reflect on the contributions women have made in the games industry. We're incredibly grateful these (very busy) women took the time out of their day to share this message with you all.
Over the last few years, the gaming industry has had a deliberate focus on how to create a culture of inclusivity. Not only within the games we make, but also within our own halls and with the people and companies we partner with. This focus has allowed me to reflect on my 22 years in the game industry and I am able to see how much I have grown and how much our industry has grown. I also realize that the role I have today, which is responsible for driving inclusivity, allows me to take ownership over something I didn’t have when I started working in gaming.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Devs Announce Free Content Updates
The development team for Divinity: Original Sin 2 announced today that they'll be providing a series of free downloadable content packs throughout the coming year. The "gift bags" will be free and available on all platforms, according to the announcement from Larian Studios.
"Not to be mistaken for Loot Boxes (which are hard, ostensibly containing loot), Gift Bags are soft, and contain gifts. Each Gift Bag costs exactly no amount of money to players, and will be patched in periodically to each platform." The first content pack is available now and features cosmetic items that can be used during character creation. The second pack, they say, is made up of items "inspired by our modding community."

Starz’s The Rook Is a Spy Thriller With a Superhero Twist
What do you get when you combine the moody paranoia of a spy thriller with a twisted, super-powered origin story? Starz's new drama, The Rook, a stylish new drama that somehow manages to evoke both John le Carré and the X-Men.
IGN has an exclusive first look at the teaser trailer for the new series, which is loosely based on the Daniel O'Malley novel of the same name, published in 2012.
Per Starz, The Rook opens on Myfanwy Thomas (Emma Greenwell), as she wakes up in the rain beside London’s Millennium Bridge, with no memory of who she is and no way to explain the circle of glove-wearing dead bodies scattered around her. When Myfanwy discovers she is a high-ranking official in the Checquy, Britain’s last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she will have to navigate the dangerous and complex world of the agency to uncover who wiped her memory – and learn why she is a target.
Dark Souls Creator Would ‘Love’ to Try Making a Battle Royale Game
Dark Souls creator and From Software Director Hidetaka Miyazaki reveals he's got his eye on the Battle Royale genre.
Miyazaki, best known for his work on such titles as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, has revealed that he’s not only been keeping tabs on the Battle Royale and Live Services phenomenon, but that he’d “love to take a crack at them some day."
In an interview with Telegraph, when asked if he and From Software would consider taking on gaming’s fastest growing genres, he said “There’s always the possibility.” He went on to remark that, “These games are definitely fun,” and, “If we did it, it might be a bit different! But we’re definitely interested and there’s definitely that possibility in the future. We’d love to take a crack at them some day."
These Are the Best FreeSync Monitors for Nvidia GPUs
If you’re willing to buy a new monitor, variable refresh rate is one of the best upgrades features you can get. Known as G-Sync on the Nvidia side and FreeSync on the AMD side, they reduce screen tearing and sync your monitor’s refresh rate with your video card’s output for a smoother experience. While FreeSync are easy to come by and affordable, monitors with NVIDIA’s G-Sync are always more expensive, leaving budget-minded GTX users out in the cold, until just recently.
This year at CES, Nvidia announced that it was bringing G-Sync compatibility to some FreeSync monitors with a new driver update. They’ve officially validated 50 monitors as “G-Sync compatible,” but anyone can enable variable refresh rate (VRR) if they have the latest Nvidia drivers and a FreeSync-enabled display—and many have found certain uncertified monitors to work just fine.

How Exactly Did Nick Fury Lose His Eye?
We all remember that line from Captain America: The Winter Soldier where Fury told Cap, “Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye.” That painted a picture of Fury being tragically betrayed, but turns out the true story is Goose clawed him in the face because he just couldn’t resist cuddling a cute cat, which is totally understandable… if you hadn’t just seen it turn into a nasty tentacle monster from hell. So maybe try not holding him right up to your face?
