IGN can exclusively announce Solar Ash Kingdom, published by Annapurna Interactive, alongside the debut trailer, which you can watch below.

Few other details of Solar Ash Kingdom have been announced, but, as the end of the trailer suggests, the Hyper Light Drifter follow-up will be coming to the Epic Games Store on PC.

Heart Machine's Alx Preston said the studio is aiming to set Solar Ash Kingdom apart from its predecessor thanks to "a whole new set of incredible tech and key innovations."

And while Heart Machine has been silent on this follow-up until now, the studio does not intend to stay that way.

Why Did a First-Time Game Developer Turn Down 12 Publishers?

Wlad Marhulets seems to be one of those people who's just good at everything. He’s traditionally made his living as a composer, writing everything from clarinet concertos to the score for an upcoming VR film about Eminem (I don’t know either). You’d think he’d be happy with the several awards he’s won for that work but, in 2015, he decided to try something new in his spare time, a little creative hobby project. “I downloaded Unity and learned a little bit of coding and 3D modeling”, he tells me over email. “A month later I had a little demo - it was 2-3 minutes of gameplay maybe, it was barely playable.”

What he'd created was the first version of Darq, a horror-soaked puzzle-platformer about a boy who becomes aware that he’s inside his own nightmare, and uses the fluidity of lucid dreaming to get out. After a friend urged him to create a trailer and upload it to the now-defunct Steam Greenlight, it became one of the top 10 most upvoted games on the service (of almost 2,000) within two weeks. Articles were written, social media discussion was had, and Marhulets made the fairly radical decision to turn Darq into his full-time job.

Correction: Fortnite Cross-Platform Play Pools Reorganized

Editor's note and update: An earlier version of this story inaccurately and falsely explained the latest changes to Fortnite's cross-platform play feature. The article previously and incorrectly stating cross-play had been restricted on the Nintendo Switch to only be functional with mobile players, which is not in fact the case — the starting pools of cross-platform players is what has been adjusted.

A representative for Epic confirmed to IGN our misreading of the patch notes, notes that Switch players platform can still play and party up with players on any other platform and that no restrictions have been made.

IGN regrets this error and apologizes to our readers for this incorrect information. An updated story follows.

DC’s Justice League Meets Black Hammer in ‘Hammer of Justice’

Big, crazy crossovers are certainly not an anomaly in superhero comic books, but there’s something extra special and strange about the worlds of Black Hammer and Justice League combining. Yes, you read that right: this summer, we’re getting Black Hammer/Justice League: Hammer of Justice, a five-part mini-series written by Jeff Lemire with art from Michael Walsh.

The heroes of the DC Universe are no strangers to interacting with alternate dimensions and weird worlds, but this event is a first for the burgeoning universe of Black Hammer, which follows the weird and wondrous lives of five superheroes who start the series trapped on mysterious farm after a saving the world. Published by Dark Horse Comics, Black Hammer nabbed the Eisner for Best New Series in 2017 and went on to spawn multiple spin-offs.

Yakuza Spin-off Judgment Pulled from Sale in Japan After Drugs Scandal

Sega announced today that it has halted Japanese sales of Judgment, the latest action-adventure game from the developer of the Yakuza series.

The reason behind this sudden decision is the fact that Pierre Taki, whose voice and likeness are used in the game as character Kyohei Hamura, was arrested as a suspect for the usage or possession of drugs. While this may not sound like a reason to stop selling a game, similar occurrences are common in Japan’s entertainment business.

The Mainichi News reports that 51-year-old Taki confessed to using a small amount of cocaine, and police are currently searching for further evidence. If prosecuted, Taki could face up to seven years in prison.

Project Blue Book’s Season Finale Ends on a Major Cliffhanger

This interview contains spoilers for the Project Blue Book Season 1 finale, "The Washington Merry-Go-Round."

At the end of the Season 1 finale of Project Blue Book, J. Allen Hynek is a man on his own. Following the Washington Flap -- a series of famously well-documented real-life UFO sightings in 1952 fictionalized on the show -- he is warned by mysterious allies they can no longer protect him. But as Hynek looks to the stars from his observatory, Aidan Gillen, who portrays the UFO researcher, is looking ahead to the second season of the History show.

Gillen didn’t know about the Season 2 renewal when the finale ended on that cliffhanger, which also showed Hynek – in a move worthy of the actor’s character Littlefinger from Game of Thrones -- apparently doublecrossing his partner Quinn (Michael Malarkey), only to reveal he was actually pulling the wool over the government’s collective eyes.

This Twitter Account Tells You Which Dogs You Can Pet in Games

Look, we've all been here. You're playing a game and happen across a dog. Whether it's roaming the countryside, hanging out next to a house, sitting inside by the fire, or waiting to sniff out items for you, you've seen it, and you've probably taken the time to walk up to it and say hi.

And the one thing we're all secretly hoping for is a button prompt allowing us to pet the dog.

In an age where we love to romance game characters and have our choices feel like they mean something beyond shallow interactions, being able to do something as arbitrary as pet a virtual dog sometimes feels as satisfying as a harrowing combat encounter. But, how can you know if the game you're about to start will allow you to pet the dogs?
