Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Why We Like Difficult Games
BEYOND!
IGN's weekly PlayStation show, Podcast Beyond, is now live with a brand new episode. This week, host Jonathon Dornbush is joined by Brian Altano, Lucy O'Brien, and Max Scoville to discuss Days Gone going gold, PS4 remote play coming to iOS mobile devices, and more in the first edition of News Crunch.
The panel then discusses why Max and Brian are playing through Bloodborne, whether we're all excited for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and if being difficult is necessary to make a game good.
Plus, we introduce a new segment, Memory Card, in which a member of the show offers up a memory from their PlayStation history, and answer some of your questions in a bit of Brapid Fire.
Everyone Is Freaking Out About an Unfounded Rumor of Sony Acquiring Take-Two

Initially reported by MarketWatch in a stock market overview pertaining to Bowing and Brexit, a small note about Take-Two Interactive popped up. MarketWatch has since revised the article, but the full pertinent section previously read:
The Bizarre History of Crackdown 3

It would be a cooperative, open-world game, touted as a new iteration of the action series, featuring a whole new campaign, and using Xbox Live to power a city. And that city... it wouldn’t just be an exciting place to play, but part of your destructive arsenal.
In this new Crackdown reveal trailer, explosions rocked the neon-soaked future city, setting off a chain of bombastic impacts as each inferno-engulfed building collapsed into the next. But the next several years of what would become Crackdown 3 were just the opposite...

Remembering the First and Only Mario FPS
Every year dozens of classic video games celebrate milestone anniversaries. There always seem to be a few major releases highlighted above the rest, but last year may have been the biggest yet for Nintendo fans. 2018 saw the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. 3, the 25th anniversary of Star Fox, and the 20th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, just to name a few.
Netflix Developing Greek Mythology Anime Series Gods & Heroes
Netflix has announced it’s developing an original Greek Mythology-based anime series called Gods & Heroes.
The streaming giant has officially ordered eight episodes of the show, which tells the story of "a young man who, cast aside by his people, learns that he is the illegitimate son of Zeus. He alone can save both Heaven and Earth but to do so he must survive the vengeful wrath of a goddess who wants him dead and the monstrous forces of evil she aligns against him."
The show will include the vocal talents of Jason O’Mara, Mamie Gummer, Derek Phillips, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jessica Henwick, Melina Kanakaredes, Claudia Christian and Elias Toufexis. Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, who worked on Immortals and Death Note, will serve as the show’s creators, writers and executive producers. Castlevania’s Powerhouse Animation will be the studio behind Gods & Heroes. A poster for the show can be seen below.
Sony Teases 7 Years of Marvel Movies and TV
Sony, which has released the financially successful Venom and highly critically successful Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is teasing it has the next “seven or eight years” of its Marvel properties laid out, for both movies and TV.
In an interview with Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tony Vinciquerra and Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins discussed Sony’s plans for its Spider-Man related properties in the future, and it appears Sony has a pretty clear vision of where they're going.
“We have the next seven or eight years laid out as to what we’re going to do with that asset, and that will not only be on the film side — it’ll be on the TV side,” said Vinciquerra. “Our television group will have its own set of characters from within that universe that we will seek to develop.”
Spyro Reignited Trilogy Finally Adds Subtitles
The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is finally receiving subtitles and the option to toggle on and off motion blur following months of fans requesting these features.
Included in the patch notes for the Reignited Trilogy’s PlayStation 4 Patch 1.03 and Xbox One Patch 1.02, Developer Toys for Bob has added subtitles in all supported languages across the three games for previously unsupported cinematics. This includes character headers to identify active speakers, succinct line splits for readability and colored text for improved character association in most languages - while unconfirmed, this seems like it would make Spyro’s text purple, Hunter’s orange, etc. Subtitles can be toggled on and off in the options menu.
