Guardians 3 or Suicide Squad 2: Which Should James Gunn Direct First?
The surprising word came today that writer-director James Gunn has been rehired by Disney to direct Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn was fired from the project last summer after a Twitter scandal regarding old tweets of his resurfaced, but now the filmmaker is back at the helm of the franchise he has overseen from its start.
The thing is, Gunn also has another superhero project in the works, and one from the Direct Competition -- DC's Suicide Squad sequel at Warner Bros. In the time between Gunn's firing and rehiring by Disney, he was reportedly a wanted commodity at other studios, and he wound up taking the job on Suicide Squad 2 as writer-director, with an eye to retooling the franchise with mostly new characters and cast. Will Smith opted to not return for the film as Deadshot, and recently reports indicated that Idris Elba is in talks to replace him in the role.

Towers: 3 Hi-Res Screenshots from the Gorgeous Prototype
In an age where dozens of new games pop up every day, the reveal trailer for Towers has still managed to turn a whole lot of heads. Though what’s shown is still early, made by a core team of six developers in just one year, it’s already wowed a bunch of people, and we’ve got three more exclusive screenshots of it.
Towers is a multiplayer game about exploring and building in a mystical open world. It has immediately drawn comparisons to a Breath of the Wild thanks to the similar-looking glider and climbing mechanics, but the addition of multiplayer, farming, and even town-building stretches it far beyond that.

This Green Lantern Graphic Novel Is the Perfect Starting Point
As with so many long-running superhero comic books, it can be tough for new readers to know where to start with the Green Lantern franchise. The good news is that there's now a perfect option for readers wanting to dive into the world of Hal Jordan and experience the full scope of his cosmic adventures. Look no further than Green Lantern by Geoff Johns Book 1.
Whether you judge it by its sheer quality of its lasting impact on the larger franchise, Johns' Green Lantern run has rightfully become the gold standard for Green Lantern stories. This is the run that managed to not only redeem Hal Jordan following his corruption as Parallax, but make him a more dynamic and exciting hero than ever. Through stories like The Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night, Johns and his collaborators introduced an entire spectrum of Lantern Corps and greatly expanded the mythology fueling the Green Lantern Corps. And on top of everything else, Johns proved that Sinestro is one of the greatest villains in superhero comics.

Superman: Year One Covers Revealed
One of the most eagerly anticipated additions to DC's Black Label imprint finally has a release date. DC has announced that Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr.'s Superman: Year One will debut in June 2019.
Like Batman: Damned, Superman: Year One will be published in the form of three prestige format issues, with a trade paperback collection to follow. The series will be published bimonthly, with issue #2 releasing in August, issue #3 following in October and the collection hitting stores in November.
You can check out cover images for all three issues and the collected edition below:
Superman: Year One is the latest DC story to reexamine the Man of Steel's origin story from a new perspective. However, this project is notable for reuniting Miller and Romita, who previously re-imagined Matt Murdock's early years on Daredevil: The Man Without Fear. Superman hasn't always been portrayed in the most flattering light in Miller's Batman work, so it'll be interesting to see how his take on the character evolves when Clark Kent is the main protagonist.
