Game of Thrones Actor Says Season 8 Is an ‘Honorable’ Ending

With the highly-anticipated final season of HBO's Game of Throne fast approaching, Davos Seaworth actor Liam Cunningham spoke with IGN at the TCA winter press tour about the decision to end the series after 8 seasons.

"I get asked all the time, 'What the hell are you guys thinking? You could run Game of Thrones forever.' If you want to stay cool, and the show is cool, the best way to stay cool is to not overstay your welcome," Cunningham explained. "It would be dishonorable to stay on longer than we should. There’s a portion of me that will miss it dearly, and it will probably read Liam ‘Game of Thrones’ Cunnigham on my headstone. But it was time to get out and wrap up that story… People deserve the end of that story and to not drag it out just because there’s a book to be made. I think it’s very honorable what they’re doing.”

How the Walking Dead Brought the Whisperers to Life

The Whisperers have finally arrived on The Walking Dead, and in tonight's midseason premiere, our survivors will start to realize exactly what they're dealing with following Jesus' shocking death.

We've been getting glimpses of the Whisperers - and their intimidating leader, Alpha (Samantha Morton) - in the show's promotional materials for the past couple of months, but last fall, IGN was among a group of reporters to visit the Atlanta set of The Walking Dead and see the new villains in action. We spoke to the show's executive producer, director, and special make-up effects mastermind Greg Nicotero to learn about his inspirations for the Whisperers, and it turns out, Nicotero had one of the most iconic movie villains in mind when designing their looks.

The Greatest Comic Book Movies (That Don’t Have Superheroes)

Comic book movies are big business. A look over box office receipts from the past decade or so reveals smash hit after smash hit, with superheroes handily taking spots in the top 10 earners of any given year.

But just because a film is a comic book movie, that doesn’t mean it’s a superhero movie. It’s not like all comic books have to offer are tales of superpowered beings in colorful costumes who like to get into fistfights. Indeed, there are innumerable comic books out there without a cape, mask or superpower in sight.

Comic books are not a genre but a medium, and any story can be told with said medium. One probably does not need to bring up Maus, Fun Home, or Scott McCloud's textbooks to the knowing comic book enthusiast as examples of what the format can do. We may, however, need to remind ourselves -- in this age that is deeply-saturated with superhero movies -- that comic book movies sans superheroes are still worth a look and, indeed, there are plenty to choose from. As such, let’s take a look at the 25 best comic book movies without superheroes.

7 Milestones for Black Superheroes Across 4 Decades of Film and TV

2018 was a great year for comic book fans. We got eight major film adaptations, ranging from huge blockbusters (Avengers: Infinity War) to critical marvels (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). Nearly all of them were well received by not only die-hard comic book fans but by the general public, as well. And in some cases, even by those who would have never given a comic book a second thought.

Though bombastic fights and amazing visuals in these films helped sell the onscreen drama, there were far more significant elements that contributed to their standout presences. These films offered a subtler yet impactful theme: the positive representation of black characters. In honor of Black History Month, we decided to look back over the years to pinpoint seven of the most groundbreaking milestones in the evolution of that representation in comic book adaptations.

Activision Blizzard is reportedly planning on announcing job cuts that could "number in the hundreds" following slowing sales for the company responsible for such titles as Call of Duty and Overwatch.
