What Will Smith’s Genie Can Learn From Robin Williams

Disney fans just got their first glimpse of Will Smith's Genie in action! And the response… well, let’s just say social media has been having a field day with this one.

Smith easily has the toughest job of any actor in this live-action remake. He has to find some way to make his own mark on a character who was so completely defined by the voice and personality of the late Robin Williams. If they weren’t already, fans are now questioning whether it’s even possible for another actor to take over the role. We’ll have to see the finished film before we truly know the answer, but for now it’s clear that Smith has his work cut out for him.

Shazam! Has a Post-Credits Scene, But What About DC Cameos?

IGN was among the media outlets invited last week to the Warner Bros. backlot to watch roughly fifteen minutes of footage from Shazam!, during which time director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran confirmed their DC movie has an end credits scene and addressed rumors about cameos from Henry Cavill's Superman and/or Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam.

Here are six highlights from our time visiting Shazam! in its post-production, starting with ...

Again, Dwayne Johnson Won't Cameo as Black Adam

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been attached to play Black Adam since 2014. In the five years since that official announcement, it was decided that Shazam! and Black Adam, one of Shazam's most iconic villains, would get two separate movies in order to do each character justice. And although Johnson has twice denied that he'd appear in Shazam! (first in 2017 and then again in 2018), one of the journalists asked the filmmakers about a rumor he'd heard that Johnson was indeed available and interested in making a cameo as Black Adam in a post-credits scene but the concern was that a costume would not be available in time to do it. The filmmakers shot that rumor down.

EA's new battle royale shooter Apex Legends has reached 25 million total players since its debut last week.

Daniel Radcliffe Responds to Those Wolverine Casting Rumors

Sometimes memes can take on a life of their own, so Daniel Radcliffe would like to set the record straight: He hasn't been approached to play Wolverine now that Hugh Jackman has hung up the claws. Last week, X-Men movie producer Lauren Shuler Donner told reporters that they expect the role of Wolverine to be recast once Disney's acquisition of Fox is complete, but no names have been discussed.

During an interview with Wired, responding to the autocomplete query "Is Daniel Radcliffe the new Wolverine?" Radcliffe joked, "There's going to be a new Wolverine movie, in which it starts off with Hugh Jackman being put into a hot wash. And then when he comes out, it's me. So yes, I'm very happy to announce that here."

PlayStation Exec Explains Why Sony Is Skipping E3

Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden recently discussed why Sony is skipping E3 this year, and how the company is focusing on fewer, but bigger, games.

In an interview with CNET, Layden spoke about Sony’s early involvement in E3, and how in the 90s the show served both retailers and journalists. He feels these focuses have ultimately changed and can now be served better elsewhere.

"Now we have an event in February called Destination PlayStation, where we bring all retailers and third-party partners to come hear the story for the year,” said Layden. "They’re making purchasing discussions in February. June, now, is just too late to have a Christmas holiday discussion with retailers."
