Game of Thrones Showrunner Says Cersei Killed Ser Pounce
In a break from the show's custom of depicting deaths on-screen (and in keeping a lid on such things in the meantime), Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff revealed that King Tommen’s cat (and Internet sensation) Ser Pounce is dead, having been killed off-screen in the time since he was last seen in Season 6.
And who could commit such a feline felony? Why, none other than the late king's sinister mom, Cersei Lannister.
“Cersei hated the name ‘Ser Pounce’ so much she could not allow him to survive," Benioff informed Entertainment Weekly. “So she came up with her most diabolical

Activision Blizzard Begins Laying Off Workers
Ahead of its fourth-quarter earnings report, Activision Blizzard has started the process of laying off members of its staff. During the call, it said the draw down will affect approximately 8% of its work force, or nearly 800 employees.
According to a report by Kotaku, a note has been sent to Activision Blizzard staff by Blizzard president J. Allen Brack stating "staffing levels on some teams are out of proportion with our current release slate. This means we need to scale down some areas of our organization."
The press release accompanying the Q4 earnings report states Activision Blizzard will actually increase the size of development teams on "its biggest franchises, enabling teams to accelerate the pace and quality of content."
BioWare ‘Definitely Not Done With Mass Effect’
Series fans can rest easy; BioWare isn't done with Mass Effect or Dragon Age.
According to Polygon, who sat down with the team at BioWare, Mass Effect is "very much alive." BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson said, "In my mind, it's very much alive. I'm thinking all the time about things that I think will be great. It's just a matter of getting back to it as soon as we can."
Mark Darrah, Executive Producer on Anthem and Dragon Age, went into further detail on what a new Mass Effect might look like. "We're definitely not done with Mass Effect. There's a lot of stories to be told. We could pull on the threads we put down with
PlayStation Exec Discusses What Sony Learned From PlayStation 3’s Missteps
During his DICE 2019 keynote speech, SIE Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden discussed the lessons Sony has learned in game development, including how missteps with PlayStation 3 led to changes with PlayStation 4.
In his Beyond Generations keynote, Layden discussed the three lessons Sony has learned in game development: quality above all, embrace new ideas, and people want to play.
When discussing quality above all, Layden said “PlayStation 2 was an industry triumph, it remains one of the best-selling consoles of all time. But coming off the heels of that, was PlayStation 3: a stark moment of hubris in the nearly 25 years of PlayStation history. As we sometimes call it, PS3 was our Icarus moment."

If you buy something through this post, IGN may get a share of the sale. For more, read our Terms of Use.
When the PlayStation Classic original price was announced, we didn't even know the full lineup of its games. But still, the original $99 price tag seemed high, but many people (myself included) had faith it would be worth the price and the wait. It wasn't. Sales weren't as brisk as retailers would have liked, and its $99 list price soon gave way to big, permanent price drops.
But now the PS Classic has reached the lowest sale price we've ever seen. Amazon and Best Buy are running a sale on the PS Classic for $24.99.

PlayStation Exec: ‘Never Underestimate Nintendo’
During his DICE 2019 keynote speech, SIE Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden discussed not only Sony’s place in the gaming market, but how both Nintendo and Microsoft are working to improve the industry in various ways.
In his Beyond Generations keynote, Layden said "The best-selling console of 2018 in the U.S. was… The Nintendo Switch. Nintendo took a massive risk when they brought this to the market. People thought Nintendo might one day be out of the hardware business. People would say things like ‘kids play games on mobile phones and tablets, dedicated portable gaming is dead and gone.’ But as I’ve said before: never underestimate Nintendo... All of us are better for their efforts."
