What Star Wars and Marvel Could Learn From Star Trek
Star Trek: Discovery is back in action, its second season promising a serious jump in confidence and quality. But CBS did something interesting with the series in the months leading up to that premiere. Rather than going completely dark until its mid-January launch, the network launched Short Treks, a series of 15-minute one-off specials that would keep fans’ anticipation at bay as the new season approached. Those Short Treks are solid in and of themselves (read our reviews here), but they also present a strong model for other major franchises’ streaming programming. Disney, which has its own streaming service, Disney+, in the works, should take note…

Will Smith Reveals First Look at Bad Boys for Life
The long-coming sequel Bad Boys for Life has gotten a first look from Will Smith, featuring himself and co-star Martin Lawrence.
Revealed via Instagram, the post contains a video of Smith and Lawrence in a hotel room that bounces back and forth between a handful of frames with P. Diddy’s song Bad Boy for Life playing over top. As with the first two films, it looks like the movie will largely take place in Miami, Florida as evidenced by the hotel room’s palm tree aesthetic. The post was captioned by Smith, saying "FIRST LOOK! Theeeeey’re BAAAAaaaack! :-)"
The first Bad Boys was released in 1995 and revolved around two Miami narcotics detectives investigating a case of stollen heroin. In 2003’s Bad Boys II, the same duo investigated how ecstasy was making its way into Florida. Bad Boys for Life will reportedly center on the Miami PD taking down the head of a drug cartel.

See What Negan’s up to in the Walking Dead Midseason Premiere
AMC has released a slew of new photos from the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead Season 9, which returns February 10.
The second half of Season 9 will introduce us to the leaders of the Whisperers, Alpha and Beta, after the group made a major impact in the midseason finale by killing Jesus.
The new photos see Negan out and about in Alexandria after he escaped his cage in the last episode. Michonne, Daryl, Carol, and Ezekiel also take center stage in the images, with much of the group seen outside the walls of their communities, likely attempting to track the mysterious attackers who took out one of their best warriors.
