Netflix Doesn’t Want You to Take the Bird Box Challenge
Though some fans have began participating in what they call the Bird Box challenge, Netflix has asked fans not not to hurt themselves in the process.
The Bird Box challenge involves people blindfolding themselves as characters do in Netflix’s popular thriller while they attempt common tasks. A quick Twitter search of #BirdBoxChallenge shows fans mostly trying to walk in public or play around the house with their children to comedic effect, but reports indicate many have attempted (and mostly failed) at doing things like riding a scooter, using an escalator or ordering food at the drive-thru while blindfolded.
An Underground Lake on Mars Is an Interesting Puzzle for Scientists
What appears to be an underground lake on Mars has been found, thanks to an ice-penetrating radar from the European Space Agency’s Mars Express orbiter, according to Science News.
The lake was discovered on the planet's south pole, where NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter also searched for liquid water, coming up with nothing.
“It’s a big mystery, we'd love to figure it out,” planetary scientist, Isaac Smith, from the Planetary Science Institute said.
The discovery was announced months ago, but scientists are still unclear about how the lake could be undetectable to NASA's orbiter.

Skeletons Reveal Cats Have Grown Larger Since the Viking Age
Since the Viking Age of around 800 C.E., cats have actually grown in size, which is the opposite of what is seen in most animals as they become domesticated.
Via Sciencemag.org, a report in the Danish Journal of Archaeology has shown that domesticated cats have grown by about 16% between the Viking Age and today.
For comparison, the average domesticated dog is around 25% smaller than a wild gray wolf.
While this study, which looked at cat bones from over 2000 years, only focused on Danish cats, there was also a study in 1987 from Germany that also reinforced the idea that medieval age cats were smaller than those found today.
Gotham’s Final Season Will Explore Batman/Proto-Joker Relationship
If the night is darkest before dawn, then Gotham City is darkest before the Knight. At least, that is the case with the Batman prequel series Gotham, which returns to FOX for its fifth and final season Thursday.
The season, which has received the subtitle “Legend of the Dark Knight,” will end in a 10-year jump into the future with a reveal of Batman (and a portly Penguin). But before the Caped Crusader arrives, audiences will see the story picking up a year into No Man’s Land then cycling back to Day 87 after Gotham City has been isolated by the U.S. government. Referencing the year-long 1999 DC Comics event of the same name, this No Man’s Land has Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) of the GCPD establishing a safe “green zone,” and attempting to hold the city together as villains divide it up into multiple territories.
