Can You Actually Copyright a Fortnite Dance Emote?
A fourth high-profile lawsuit has been filed against Epic Games this week over the studio allegedly stealing a dance emote in Fortnite. Rapper 2 Milly sued back at the start of December, followed by Fresh Prince star Alfonso Ribeiro and the notorious “Backpack Kid” a few weeks later, and now the mother of “Orange Shirt Kid” is joining to accuse Epic of wrongfully taking her son’s dance.
How Spider-Man: Far From Home References Uncle Ben
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to directly mention Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben, but a small Easter Egg in the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home gives us our most concrete reference yet.
About 40-seconds into the latest trailer, a quick shot shows us the top of the suitcase Peter is using to pack for his trip to Europe. The old, worn suitcase includes the initials “BFP,” likely standing for “Benjamin Franklin Parker.” While Uncle Ben’s middle name isn’t official Marvel canon, he was reportedly modeled after the renowned American founding father Ben Franklin, making the middle initial a nice throwback to the character’s origins.
When Does Spider-Man: Far From Home Take Place?
Those who haven't followed every development in the MCU news cycle might be confused about when Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place considering Peter Parker died at the end of Avengers: Infinity War (and Avengers: Endgame, wherein he presumably comes back to life, has yet to open).
According to what Marvel Studios president Kevin Fege told IGN shortly before Infinity War came out, Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place after Avengers: Endgame.
Feige said that the film will see Peter contending with the aftermath of the events of the third and fourth Avengers movies: "What is it like to try to go back to a normal life after what happens in this movie
Call of Duty’s Blackout Battle Royale Mode Will Have a Free Trial This Month
Activision and Treyarch have announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode, Blackout, will be entering a free trial period for one week beginning Thursday for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
The trial will last from January 17-24, and will include characters, locations, weapons and gear from the paid base battle royale mode. Exactly how players will obtain the trial hasn’t been detailed, but it will likely be a free download from each platform’s respective storefronts. While the presence of a limited-time free trial doesn’t guarantee this, it’s possible it will act as a test for Treyarch to see if a free-to-play model for its battle royale mode will ultimately suit Blackout.
Is True Detective Season 3 Based on Real Events? Its Creator Weighs In
True Detective's creator, Nic Pizzolatto, recently gave his first one-on-one interview in four years and discussed, among many other things, whether the show's third season is based on real events or not.
Speaking to EW, Pizzolatto was asked if the show's third season had any relation, as some had mentioned, to the West Memphis 3 "Satanic panic" case in which three eight-year old children were killed in a manner related to a Satanic ritual.
Pizzolatto answered, simply, "Not at all. You're moved off that pretty quickly. It's really not informed by that."
Pizzolatto continued to discuss how impressed he was with lead actor Mahershala Ali, who's character is going through early stages of dementia in his later years, and how this new story came to him "spontaneously and organically."

Fortnite: Orange Shirt Kid’s Mom Joins Ranks of People Suing Epic Over Dances
Rachel McCumbers, the mother of a young Fortnite player who submitted a dance for Epic's Boogie Down competition last year, is now suing the developer for including her son's dance in the game.
Orange Shirt Kid, as he became known on the internet, didn't actually win the contest, but placed 23rd in the list of runner-ups. However, his video garnered over one million views and a petition soon popped up requesting that Epic crown him the winner instead.
