Mega Man is Going to Become a Live Action Movie
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Capcom has announced that its Mega Man franchise is going to be adapted into a live-action Hollywood movie.
The feature film is tentatively titled MEGA MAN (all caps), and will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3) for 20th Century Fox. Via a press release, Capcom says it aims to "appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for."
DC’s Birds of Prey Movie Casts Its Renee Montoya
DC's Birds of Prey movie has its Renee Montoya in Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez.
The Wrap reports that Perez will join the Harley Quinn spin-off as the openly gay Gotham City Police Department detective alongside Margot Robbie as Harley, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress.
Perez has had a distinguished career since the '80s, with roles in Do the Right Thing, White Men Can't Jump and Fearless. The latter nabbed her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
The Wrap also confirms the rumour that the villain in Birds of Prey will indeed be Black Mask, the twisted kingpin who will be making his big screen debut in the film.
Big Bash Boom Bringing Arcade Cricket to Consoles, PC This November
Melbourne-based sports game studio Big Ant has today announced Big Bash Boom, a licensed, arcade-inspired take on the KFC Big Bash League and Rebel Women’s Big Bash League. Big Bash Boom is being produced in collaboration with Cricket Australia and will include all the teams and players set to feature in this year’s BBL|08 and WBBL|04.
“Our previous cricket games, such as last year’s Ashes Cricket, have been known for being authentic, simulation style takes on the sport,” said Big Ant Studios CEO Ross Symons in the announcement.
“We wanted to do something different with Big Bash Boom. Just as the BBL itself has grown to become Australia’s favourite family summer event, this is a game the whole family can jump into and have a great time with.”
First Look at Animated Harley Quinn Mocks Deadpool, DC Movies
Now that the DC Universe streaming service is moving full steam ahead, with the live-action Titans series debuting this month, IGN can confirm that Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco will executive produce and voice Harley Quinn in the previously announced animated series that will be headlined by the hugely popular character.
The show will depict what happens when Harley breaks off from the Joker and sets out to become the biggest villain there is, but even while it basically features all supervillains, Cuoco says to expect an animated “adult comedy.” At NYCC 2018, Warner Bros. Animation unveiled a special first look. Check out Harley in action, below:
“This show is kind of a very cool, modern take on Harley Quinn,” says Cuoco. “She’s such an iconic character that we're excited to bring a much brighter and kind of, even the animation is very bright and modern and hip. And the character is very edgy. The storyline is very edgy and it’s definitely not a child’s show! It’s an adult comedy -- I have to make sure I tell people that! -- which has been a blast to work on. I've never experienced anything like this before. It's been kind of a really cool gig.”
Star Wars Show from Iron Man Director Will Focus on Mandalorians
Jon Favreau has revealed that his live-action Star Wars series will focus on the Mandalorians.
A graphic shared on the Iron Man director's Instagram revealed that the series will take place after the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, and will center on a "lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy."
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett," read the graphic, "another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic..."
World of Warcraft Executive Producer Becomes New President of Blizzard
Activision Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft executive producer J. Allen Brack has been appointed president of Blizzard Entertainment.
Brack will assume the role previously held by Mike Morhaime, who will remain at Blizzard as a "strategic advisor to the company." Morhaime was a Co-Founder of Blizzard and has been with the company since its inception in 1991.
"J. is an inspiring leader who has shown unwavering commitment to Blizzard’s community in his 12 years with the company." Morhaime said in a blogpost.
"His leadership on World of Warcraft leveraged his vision, creativity, and commitment to quality, and together with the rest of the dev team helped deliver an experience that is unprecedented in our industry. I couldn’t be happier for J. and know that Blizzard will continue to make great games with him at the helm."
Dwayne Johnson Shows First Look at Fast and Furious Spinoff Hobbs & Shaw
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has revealed the first image from the upcoming Fast and Furious spinoff film, Hobbs & Shaw.
Johnson posted the image on Instagram, saying "We either gonna get along or we gonna get it on. Fuck getting along."
"Great first week of shooting our Fast & Furious spin-off, 'Hobbs & Shaw' with my ace Jason Statham" Johnson said, "We're havin' a blast disrupting the norm to deliver something fresh, cool, fun and bad ass for the fans."

WB Games to Distribute Cyberpunk 2077 in North America
CD Projekt Red has announced that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will "be responsible for the distribution and promotion of Cyberpunk 2077 in North America, and will bring the game to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One."
“We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence,” CD Projekt Red's Member of the Board and SVP of Business Development, Michał Nowakowski, said on its website.
Lethal Weapon: Damon Wayans Announces He’s Leaving the Show
Damon Wayans is leaving Fox's Lethal Weapon television series.
According to a recent interview with Eurweb.com (via Variety), Damon says he plans to leave in December after wrapping on the 13 episodes comprising the show's third season.
“I’m going to be quitting the show in December after we finish the initial 13,” Wayans said, “so I really don’t know what they’re planning, but that’s what I’m planning. I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days.”
