Mobile Games To Play During Holiday Travel

Mobile games are a $50 billion dollar industry with over 2.1 billion players worldwide, and both those numbers are growing every single year. How do you serve a market that huge? Lots and lots of games.

It wasn’t easy picking the best mobile games of all time. With over 500 new games submitted to the App Store daily and a fantastic backlog of hard-earned classics and hidden gems already out there, that’s a whole lot to wade through.

For the purposes of our Top 25, we decided to focus on the most original and creative experiences possible on mobile devices. While there are notable exceptions, we generally leaned away from games based on existing IPs and we tried to keep it to games that originally launched on mobile. That’s partially why PUBG and Fortnite are missing – while both are undeniably massive games, we don’t think mobile is the best way to play either.

Will GTA 5 Fans Like Red Dead 2?

Note: this conversation was recorded and originally posted before the embargo for Red Dead Redemption 2 reviews, and so both Jonathon and Greg are speaking about Red Dead 2 solely from the experience of trailers and previews released. The two discuss whether Red Dead 2's possibly slower pace and more expansive, wider world — one less densely packed than that of GTA V — will appeal to what players have been enjoying about GTA V and Online since its debut.

The Joker Returns (For Real This Time) in Batman Beyond

This ongoing series celebrated its 25th issue this week with an oversized story that reintroduces the greatest Batman villain of all. Joker has returned to Gotham City just as the elderly Bruce Wayne dedicates a new skyscraper on what would have been his father's 100th birthday. Sadly, Joker hijacks a monorail train and makes quick work of the new building.

Jump Force Release Date Announced

Jump Force, the Bandai Namco fighting game that brings together characters from various Shonen Jump manga and anime, will be coming February 15, 2019.

Bandai Namco made the announcement on Twitter, alongside a new Paris Games Week 2018 trailer for the game. The trailer features pre-order bonuses for the game, including Frieza’s hover pod as a lobby vehicle and three costumes.

Ni No Kuni 2 DLC Detailed

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom will be receiving its second chunk of DLC this winter in The Lair of the Lost Lord.

Announced by Bandai Namco, The Lair of the Lost Lord will be available as part of the game’s season pass, and can also be purchased separately when it comes out later this year. The DLC includes new story content, combat methods, quests and equipment.

Ni No Kuni 2 DLC

The story revolves around a mysterious gate that appears in the Rubbly Ruins. This gate leads players to a labyrinth ruled by the Prince of Wraiths, who is scheming to use his corruption to destroy Evermore Kingdom. Players will naturally need to enter the labyrinth to face the terrors lurking below to stop this darkness and return peace to the kingdom.

Team Sonic Racing Delayed to Mid-2019

SEGA has delayed Team Sonic Racing to May 21, 2019.

In a statement provided to IGN by a SEGA representative, SEGA says the decision was made “to deliver the highest quality experience to fans” and that the extra time “will ensure delivering an unforgettable experience that fans can enjoy for years to come.”

Star Trek Launching Animated Comedy Series from Rick and Morty Writer

CBS All Access today has announced its next original Star Trek production. Star Trek: Lower Decks will be a new half-hour animated comedy series developed by Rick and Morty writer-producer Mike McMahan. The series, which has a two-season order, will be about the support crew on "one of Starfleet’s least important ships."

A new animated Star Trek show has been rumored for months as one of the candidates in the array of possible new Trek ventures being plotted out by CBS and executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who is overseeing the entire TV franchise for the streaming service. Last summer reports emerged that Kurtzman, who is the co-creator and current showrunner of Star Trek: Discovery, had signed a five-year, $25 million deal with CBS Television Studios to create at least four new shows set in the Star Trek universe.

Battlefield Dev Seemingly Banned from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for Being Too Good

Battlefield V core gameplay designer Florian Le Bihan also happens to be ridiculously good at Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. How good? Well, it seems Le Bihan received a ban because of his skills.

Le Bihan posted a picture of his ban message on Twitter on October 23. Shortly after posting about his ban, Le Bihan uploaded a gameplay clip to YouTube (link in Tweet below).
