Captain Marvel Is the Most Powerful Hero the MCU Has Ever Seen
Captain Marvel is the MCU's most powerful superhero, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Feige confirmed to EW Carol Danvers' power is unmatched in the MCU. To prepare for the role, Brie Larson began training nine months prior to filming.
Larson, who'll play the titular character in her own solo film next year, had to learn boxing, judo, and wrestling to help portray the superhero.
Captain Marvel won't be an origin story. Instead, the film begins after Carol Danvers already has her powers and is part of Starforce, a Kree military team.

Insomniac Explains How Spider-Man’s 4K, HDR Works
Insomniac Games has decided to give fans a little peek behind the curtain of Marvel’s Spider-Man, explaining how 4K, HDR and more was handled in the development process.
In an interview on PlayStation Blog, Insomniac’s director of core Mike Fitzgerald and chief architect Al Hastings ran down how the team rendered Spider-Man’s Manhattan.
"Like many open-world games, we have to carefully parcel up our world up into small sections, since the whole island of Manhattan would be impossible to fit into the PS4’s memory at one time,” said Fitzgerald. "There are approximately 800 square tiles making up our version of Marvel’s New York, each 128 meters square, making the city several times larger than what we built for Sunset Overdrive.”
Nintendo Appears to Leak the Name of the Yoshi Switch Game
Nintendo seems to have accidentally leaked the title of Yoshi's previously unnamed 2019 Switch game: Yoshi's Crafted World.
Twitter user @TheOgEVG was perusing Nintendo's official website and looking at the Super Smash Bros. page when he spotted the apparent slip. At the bottom of the page, a suggested games tool pulled up a 2019 Nintendo Switch game with the name Yoshi's Crafted World clearly displayed. Although IGN has been unable to replicate that suggested result – Nintendo has likely taken it down by now – other site visitors have also reported seeing it.
This Creepy New Thriller Will Probably Make You Want to Quit the Internet
All September long, IGN is spotlighting the best TV coming your way in the 2018-2019 season. Today we're diving into Lifetime's You, based on the Caroline Kepnes novel of the same name. The 10-episode first season follows Joe (Penn Badgley), a seemingly chivalrous bookstore manager, and Beck (Elizabeth Lail), an aspiring writer and overworked grad student, as they begin a relationship. Unfortunately for Beck, Joe's crush soon morphs into obsession, and thanks to his social media savvy, it doesn't take long for him to position himself as the perfect partner for Beck, even as he methodically begins to remove every obstacle (and person) that might get in the way of their romance.
Fortnite Now Has Its Own Monopoly Board
Apparently not content to just dominate the world of video games, Epic Games is partnering with Hasbro to release a Fortnite-themed Monopoly board.
Eurogamer was first to report that Fortnite Monopoly is available for preorder online now at UK retailer Zavvi for £26.99 with a Nov. 26 release date. However, following the publication of this story, Hasbro confirmed to IGN that the board will actually be available at most major retailers globally beginning Oct. 1.
Xbox One Now Connects to Alexa and Cortana Devices
Microsoft is releasing an Xbox Skill for Alexa and Cortana-enabled devices, adding remote voice controls for Xbox One.
Announced on Xbox Wire, the skill will allow you to turn your console on and off, launch games and apps, start and stop Mixer broadcasts, control volume, control media playback, navigate menus and capture screenshots and videos.
The Skill also bypasses steps, so if you tell your Amazon Echo to start a game when your console is off, it'll turn on the console, sign you in, and boot the game.
The Skill will be coming today to some members of the Xbox Insiders program in the US, with unannounced release dates for the rest of the world. To check if it's been added to your console, head to Settings on your Xbox One, then hit 'Devices' - if you see 'Digital Assistant' listed, you're good to go.

Rockstar Games spent yesterday rounding up its posse. Put another way, the developer is tweeting out names and quotes for some of the characters coming in Red Dead Redemption 2, most of whom seem to be at least associated with the Dutch Van der Linde gang.
Many of these characters were known to us either from the last game, or our previews of the next - but a few of these characters are being seen or named for the first time. Check out the whole line-up below:
THQ Nordic Buys Kingdoms of Amalur Franchise
THQ Nordic has purchased the Kingdoms of Amalur franchise from 38 Studios.
The company has finalized a deal to acquire Kingdoms of Amalur and the Amalur property based on the abandoned Copernicus MMORPG project.
There's no word yet if THQ Nordic will now work on new Amalur projects in the near future.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning came out back in 2012 and features fast-paced third-person combat. The game hails from author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston.
We awarded it a 9.0, saying that "if you're looking for bang for your buck, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has it in droves".
Developer 38 Studios would eventually get sued by the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation. The company took out a $75 million dollar loan it couldn't pay back, supported by Rhode Island taxpayers. In 2016 the developer was not indicted with criminal charges.
