Fortnite Battle Royale: Epic Announces Season 6 Start Date

Fortnite's sixth season will officially kick off on September 27, Epic Games announced on Twitter this morning.

"Season 6 is now dropping from the Battle Bus on September 27," tweeted Epic. "Celebrate its arrival and unlock those final Battle Pass rewards with an additional 400% Match XP all weekend, from now until September 24 at 8 AM ET (1200 GMT). Glide into the party!"

That bonus XP weekend therefore ends on Monday at at 5am Pacific / 8am Eastern / 1pm UK / 10pm AEST.

Some fans believed Season 6 would kick off earlier, with rumors having first circulated that Fortnite would change over from Season 5 to 6 yesterday and then later rumors placing the date on Sept. 25. Either way, Epic is throwing everyone a bone with that huge experience multiplier this weekend before the new season actually starts on the 27th.

Pokemon Go May Have Leaked an Entirely New Pokemon

Pokemon fans believe they've uncovered an entirely new Pokemon due to a leak in Pokemon Go's network traffic. Pokemon database site Serebii posted an image of the Pokemon, which is currently labeled as existing Pokemon Kecleon.

Twitter user Chrales appears to be the first person to have spotted the leak, noting that while the creature is labeled Kecleon in Pokemon Go, the game's Unity files tag it as Pokemon 891.

Chrales also grabbed some images, which looks a bit like an orb floating inside a hardware nut for a head on top of a Ditto-like body. The right image appears to be a shiny variant.

Twitch Has Been Blocked in China

Despite a boom in popularity last month, Twitch has been blocked from China.

Users who wish to download the Twitch app in China will find themselves disappointed as the app has been removed from respective mobile app stores. Likewise, trying to access Twitch through a web browser will simply not connect you to the website.

Last month, the Twitch app in China saw huge success when it became the third most downloaded free app on the iOS App Store. The sudden rush of downloads and viewers can primarily be attributed to the Asian Games, an esports event where Twitch was the most popular way to watch.

Why the block? There is no clear answer but according to Abacus, some Chinese users believe this is the government cracking down on the country's gaming addiction issues. Others believe it is another form of limiting free speech.

Why Disney and Bob Iger’s Star Wars Movie ‘Slowdown’ Is a Win for Fans

Today word came that Disney CEO Bob Iger believes his plan to release a new Star Wars movie every year was “a little too much, too fast” and that fans can expect “some slowdown” in the studio’s output of films set in that galaxy far, far away. From where I’m sitting, this is a good thing -- for Disney as well as for fans.

Much has been made about the box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, so there’s not too much point in re-litigating that here, but suffice to say that the film’s worldwide theatrical take clocked in at $393 million. Meanwhile, the other Star Wars Story standalone, Rogue One, made just over $1 billion. For two Star Wars films that were only released two years apart, that’s a big difference.
