The Convoluted History of Star Trek: Discovery’s Captain Pike Explained
Star Trek: Discovery's second season hits CBS All Access this week, and fans were left hanging when the first season ended with a stunning tease as the Discovery found itself face to face with the USS Enterprise. The famous ship's arrival naturally led to the assumption (which was later confirmed) that we'd be meeting a younger version of lead character Michael Burnham's adoptive brother Spock, who will be played by Ethan Peck.
But since Discovery takes place about 10 years before the events of Captain Kirk's The Original Series adventures on the Enterprise, the current commanding officer of the ship is Captain Christopher Pike (played by Inhumans' Anson Mount on Discovery), who Trek history tells us helmed the Enterprise just before James Kirk took over. Though Pike only played a minor role in The Original Series in its final form (more on that in a moment), the character has endured across several films and television series and has been portrayed by four different actors to date. So let's take a moment to get to know the first commanding officer of the Enterprise to give the order, "Engage!"

"I'm going back," Lincoln said. "I'm going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year."

Bill Cosby Sentenced to 3-10 Years in Prison
Bill Cosby was sentenced three to 10 years in a state prison on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a woman at his home in 2004, reported by Variety.
Judge Steven T. O'Neill from Montgomery Country denied Cosby's request for bail pending his appeal.
Cosby will need to serve the minimum time of three years under Pennsylvania law before he can be up for parole. The maximum sentence is five to 10 years in prison.
“This is a serious crime,” said O’Neill, who rejected the defense request for house arrest, partial confinement, and even a chance to serve the sentence in the county jail as opposed to state prison.
Joker Director Reveals New Photo of Joaquin Phoenix in Clown Costume and Makeup
Director of the upcoming Joker film Todd Phillips has posted another shot of Joaquin Phoenix in makeup on Instagram, though this time he is decidedly in a full clown costume.
The Instagram post is simply paired with the caption “Work” suggesting that this is Phoenix playing Arthur Fleck, the Joker prior to making his full transition into the Clown Prince of Crime. It appears that this version of the Joker worked as a literal clown, perhaps providing entertainment to audiences before being completely "disregarded by society."

Former Employees Sue Telltale for Breaking Labor Laws
A former Telltale Games employee is filing a class-action lawsuit against his former employer for reportedly breaking California labor laws in an attempt to properly compensate himself and the rest of its former employees that were laid off last Friday.
As reported by Polygon, former employee Vernie Roberts Jr. submitted the class-action lawsuit on Monday, citing Telltale’s violation of the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act for just cause of the lawsuit. According to the lawsuit, this violation should grant Roberts and the other terminated employees a collection of unpaid wages and benefits for 60 days following the violation.
JK Rowling Squashes Years Old Incorrect Nagini Fan Theory (Again)
With the recent release of the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which led to the reveal of Nagini being a Maledictus, J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to answer some fan theories.
One big theory that Rowling herself thought she squashed down years ago, was that Nagini was the boa constrictor from The Reptile House at the London Zoo in the very first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's) Stone.
Noooo... I thought I'd shot that one down! The escaped boa constrictor in Philosopher's Stone wasn't Nagini. It was never Nagini. That's an incorrect but very persistent fan theory! https://t.co/QEy89kwloA
