Patrick Stewart Returning as Captain Picard Is the Best Thing to Happen to Star Trek in Decades

When the news came this weekend that Patrick Stewart will indeed be reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard in a new Star Trek series for CBS All Access, the internet went crazy with PatStew love. The reaction to the announcement was overwhelmingly positive, and it showed just how important Star Trek: The Next Generation is not just to Trekkies but also to more mainstream audiences. And indeed, the reveal that Jean-Luc is returning is certainly one of the best things to happen to Star Trek in -- dare I say it? -- decades. Though, all the same, it’s also one of the riskiest moves the franchise has taken in some time.

FX’s What We Do in the Shadows Series Will Be ‘Bigger’ Than the Movie

When Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement wrote, directed and starred in offbeat vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows in 2014, the New Zealanders were perhaps best known for Clement's quirky series Flight of the Conchords and Waititi's indie darling Boy. In the years since, Clement has become one of the industry's most interesting performers thanks to breakout roles in FX's Legion and Disney's Moana, while Waititi has established himself as one of Hollywood's most visionary directors thanks to his franchise-saving take on Thor: Ragnarok.

Now they're adapting What We Do in the Shadows into a TV series for FX, shifting the narrative from Wellington to New York to tell a new story about three lazy vampires who have been roommates for hundreds of years.

Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. ‘Will be the Full Game’ and Progress Will Carry Over

When Fallout 76's B.E.T.A. (Break-It Early Test Application) arrives in October, it will be the full game and any progress made will carry over into the launch version.

Revealed in the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A FAQ, Bethesda states that the "current plan for the B.E.T.A. is it will be the full game and all your progress is saved for launch."

The FAQ also notes that there will be no NDA so players will be able to discuss, post screenshots, stream, etc. when they begin playing.

A couple weeks ago, community administrator Jurassica revealed that the B.E.T.A. would begin in October and Bethesda would be "selecting people who have pre-ordered the game from a participating retailer." She also confirmed that they would "start small and grow over time."

If You Can’t Wait for the Resident Evil 2 Remake, Play This Awesome Resident Evil 2 Remake

Resident Evil 2 has a die-hard fan base, and the creators of its board game recreation are very clearly part of it. After playing through a scenario of Resident Evil 2: The Board Game at Gen Con 2018 with lead designer Sherwin Matthews, I knew that the classic survival horror game people hold dear was in good hands.

This board game adaptation is designed with more thoughtfulness and attention to detail than I have ever seen in a digital-to-table translation. Its tension, environments, paths to completing each objective, and even gameplay strategy feel nearly one-to-one with the video game.
