SteamCharts reports that in just 24 hours, its concurrent player count peaked at 240,901 on Steam; the highest of any game on Steam so far this year, and the seventh-highest count of all time.
The previous Japanese record holder for concurrent Steam players was Dark Souls 3 with 129,831.
ResetEra member, Cyberpunk, pointed out that the day before the PC launch, Capcom's stock opened at 3,000, the first time it's hit that number at opening since March 27, 2000.
Always Sunny Duo Score Video Game Comedy Series at Apple
Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are making a comedy series for Apple set in a video game development studio.
Variety reports this currently unnamed series will be the pair's first collaboration since working on the popular comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which McElhenney and Day both not only star in but are also executive producers.
While not much is known about the upcoming show yet, it looks to explore the intricacies of the human condition through comedy while set in the world of video game development.

Shark Movies That Couldn’t Possibly Be Real (But Totally Are)
in a world where audiences will watch just about anything with a shark in it, ridiculous shark movies are thriving. Not standard ridiculous shark movies, like The Meg, but shark movies with a premise so absurd it would have been rejected from the writers room on Saturday Night Live a few decades go. And although many of these shark movies know how ludicrous they are, they’re still spending lots of time and money (okay, okay, “lots” is relative) to turn some truly nonsensical ideas into a reality.
Here, then, are our picks for shark movies that couldn’t possibly be real, but totally are.
Watch our review of The Meg above.

Smash Bros. Ultimate: 5 Moves that Will Make Simon Great
During a recent Nintendo Direct, the director of the Smash Bros. franchise Masahiro Sakurai announced the addition of Simon Belmont to the roster of his upcoming game. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate arrives on Nintendo Switch later this year, but the reveal gave us a preview of what to expect from Castlevania's finest whipmaster.
You can watch the trailer embedded below, and we've broken out five moments in the trailer that demonstrate moves we expect will be key to playing Simon effectively in Ultimate.
In this first highlight, we get to see what could be Simon's horizontal smash or his Forward + B attack. The range looks incredible, as Simon's whip significant outranges Corrin's already long spear smash.
Ubisoft Confirms Steep Is No Longer Coming to the Nintendo Switch
Ubisoft's open world extreme snow sport game Steep is no longer coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Confirmed via a reply on Twitter, the official Steep account said "We are wholly dedicated to supporting the live game, and made the decision to stop Steep development on the Nintendo Switch platform to focus on bringing new live content and challenges to Steep players instead. We’ll have more exciting news to share soon."
Steep was originally announced during the Switch's reveal event in January 2017. It was shown alongside games like Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 and more in a sizzle reel, though while most other games in the video have since been released, Steep for the Switch went relatively radio silent.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Confirmed to Run in 4K on PS4 Pro
Though many had assumed Red Dead Redemption 2 would run in 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony and Rockstar have confirmed this to be true.
Via the PlayStation Blog, Sony has posted the six minute gameplay trailer of Red Dead Redemption 2 that was revealed this morning with the text "Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 4 Pro, watch this introduction to Red Dead Redemption 2’s gameplay in 4K."
An identical caption can be found beneath the YouTube video itself on Sony's official account. The same video was uploaded to the official Xbox YouTube channel, though its caption is slightly altered, reading "Captured entirely from in-game footage, watch this introduction to Red Dead Redemption 2's gameplay in 4K."
Dark Phoenix: What You Need to Know About Those Reshoots
Contrary to recent reports, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will not be headed back for "three months" worth of reshooting, which may have suggested the film would be undergoing a huge overhaul.
Collider has reported that while the film is indeed going back to Montreal for some "additional photography," these should only last about "two and a half weeks," which in Hollywood is nothing out of the ordinary.
Montreal outlet LaPresse had made the initial report about the "three month" reshoots, but considering that is not that case, Dark Phoenix appears to be on track following its delay from November 2, 2018 to February 14, 2019.
The Craziest Movie Gimmicks Ever
Some movies pack audiences into the theater the old-fashioned way, with compelling stories and charismatic stars. And if that doesn't work, a crazy gimmick sometimes does the trick.
"Gimmick movies" have been around since the early days of cinema, back when cinema itself was still new, and considered pretty gimmicky all by itself. The gimmicks ranged from innovative storytelling techniques to outlandish marketing tie-ins, from genuine examples of ingenuity to flat-out lies. And for every gimmick that took off - like synchronized sound, widescreen filmmaking, or 3D - there are plenty that only worked once or twice before audiences caught on and realized that they were duped, or at least that there were very few practical applications for the gimmick in question.
