Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s Dev Budget Is Reportedly $75M to $100M

Eidos Montreal boss David Anfossi has revealed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is costing between $75 million and $100 million to develop, with an extra $35 million thrown on top for marketing.

"Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and other different AAA single-player games, cost $75 million to $100 million. And that's production only; it's close to $35 million on the promotion," Anfossi said in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz on the subject of single-player games and industry trends.

"So there's definitely a pressure. We cannot avoid it. But, at the same time, for us to have these incubation projects and to try small things... that gives us the opportunity to test, prepare and secure some stuff, and remove some risk."

Jurassic World Evolution: Welcome to Jurassic World Developer Diary

Today we're debuting the first of three developer diaries by the team at Frontier Developments, the studio behind Jurassic World Evolution.

In the first part, the team run through the chief responsibilities of running your own dinosaur theme part, balancing entertainment with security while always trying to make as much money as possible. Not easy this Jurassic World business. Ask Hammond.

They also talk about working with none other than Dr. Ian Malcolm, aka Jeff Goldblum, who will serve as your guide and voice of reason while you play.

Syfy Cancels The Expanse

Syfy's The Expanse will end its run on the network after the Season 3 finale airs in early July.

According to Deadline, Syfy will not renew the space drama for a fourth season, but Alcon Television Group will shop the series to other potential buyers, so there is hope for fans wishing to see more of the series.

The President of Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cabel had this to say about the Expanse's cancelation:

“The Expanse transported us across the solar system for three brilliant seasons of television. Everyone at Syfy is a massive fan of the series, and this was an incredibly difficult decision. We want to sincerely thank The Expanse’s amazing cast, crew and all the dedicated creatives who helped bring James S.A. Corey’s story to life. And to the series’ loyal fans, we thank you most of all.”

Sony Will Focus on Death Stranding, Last of Us 2 at E3

Sony has announced its E3 showcase will take place at 6 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Eastern on June 11 (that's 2 a.m. June 12 in the UK).

This year, four of Sony's own titles will feature prominently in the show, with Shawn Layden, chairman of Worldwide Studios, saying that we'll get a deep dive with the "big four" — Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part 2.

Sony's conference will "have stellar announcements from third-party publishers and independent developers" as well.

"E3 this year will feature exclusive looks and deep dives on four upcoming titles. Four of our big titles," he said in the latest episode of PlayStation Blogcast. "We have great content, we have fantastic updates, I think everyone will be thrilled to see it, and we're taking kind of a different angle on how we're bringing it out."

Microsoft Expands Digital Game Gifting Options on Xbox, PC

Microsoft has announced that all digital Xbox One games can now be gifted to others, along with bringing the feature to PC.

Select titles were part of the digital Xbox One game gifting rollout late last year, but now all games are included. In addition, the Microsoft Store for PC now offers this same feature for games and DLC.

However, Microsoft did note on Xbox Wire that Xbox 360 and original Xbox games are not possible to gift. So you won't be able to give someone Jade Empire or Knights of the Old Republic 2.

Thanos Gets Buffed in Fortnite – a Day After His Nerf

Epic Games has imbued Thanos with the power he deserves in the latest Fortnite Limited Time mode update, following negative feedback on the nerf.

The Avengers: Infinity War/ Fortnite Limited Time mode crossover kicked off earlier this week, and a day later Thanos was nerfed. Epic said it would monitor feedback and there was a great deal of it, with most players disappointed by the tweak, and Epic has taken the feedback on board.

Minecraft Cross-Platform-Play Coming to Switch in June

Minecraft on Switch is getting cross-platform play, Nintendo Online support, and access to the Minecraft Marketplace.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition will contain all of the released DLC to date and will get a retail release in stores next month. The title will support cross-platform play and the Nintendo Switch Online paid subscription service when it launches in September.

Sony hasn't changed its stance on cross-platform play, so Switch players won't be able to play with their buddies on PlayStation 4.
