Senate Votes to Restore Net Neutrality
The United States Senate has voted to overturn the FCC repeal of Net Neutrality with a vote of 52 for to 47 against.
Democrats secured a victory by utilizing the Congressional Review Act, which gives Congress 60 legislative days to undo a federal agency regulation and allows a repeal with a simple majority, instead of the 60 vote threshold required for most legislation.
Although this is a victory for Net Neutrality advocates, the repeal still needs to pass the House of Representatives. President Donald Trump then would need to sign the resolution to complete the process. Even if the resolution fails at either of those points, however, over 24 states are considering legislation to grant those protections, and Washington has already become the first state to turn that legislation into law.
10 Strangest Pokémon Spinoffs
The Pokémon franchise is no stranger to weird spinoffs. Case in point, the recent interesting detour of Detective Pikachu. Sure, kids love Pikachu, and Nintendo has a surprisingly long history with detective story adventure games, but combining the two seems a little… strange. A Pikachu is a babbling rat that shoots lightning from its cheeks. Do you really want to trust one of those things to find a lost child or discreetly gather photographic evidence that your spouse is stepping out on you with the milkman?
But then, the Pokémon franchise is no stranger to weird spinoffs. For every beloved offshoot like photo-safari Pokémon Snap or totally perfect side venture like Pokémon: Trading Card Game, you can find a strange, nonsensical, or just plain ill-advised side game. So don your poké-safari hat and join us on a journey into the deepest, dankest wilds of Nintendo's biggest cash co—er, Miltank.
