Mega Man Turns It Up to 11

Capcom couldn’t quite get a new Mega Man game ready for his 30th birthday last year (he’s really a man now!). But right at the buzzer in December, Mega Man 11 was announced. It’s coming this year, I’ve played it, and I’m happy to report it seems like a fun and fresh take on one of the elder statesmen of gaming. After seeing the reveal trailer back in December, everyone said: “Cool! But he looks kinda weird.” True, he’s adopted more of a cartoonish anime style instead of the pixelated look of previous Mega Men. But the run-and-gun-and-jump gameplay feels like classic Mega Man, and the new design retains the charm and personality fans expect. The Man himself feels quick and snappy as he should — it doesn’t have the sluggish running-under-water feel that the reveal trailer seemed to imply.

Fortnite’s Weekly Challenges Have Been Pushed Back

Fortnite's Week 5 challenges were due to go live today, however developer Epic Games has announced it's rescheduling weekly challenges to go live on Thursdays rather than Tuesdays.

If you log onto Fortnite now, you're likely to be greeted with a message saying Week 5 challenges will unlock "in 0 seconds." Though these challenges were meant to unlock this morning, players have been unable to view or complete them.

If you get this message, don't panic. This isn't an issue with just your game. Epic Games tweeted earlier to explain the bug is a known issue which is a result of the developer moving weekly challenges from Tuesdays to Thursdays. They just forgot to tell anyone.

Disney Brass on Solo Bombing: ‘We Have a Lot of Work to Do’

Disney and Lucasfilm are unlikely to release two Star Wars movies so close together after Solo struggled at the box office this past weekend.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis discussed Solo's disappointing debut and and what it means going forward for Star Wars films. "We have a lot of work to do in trying to understand this," he said.

"We are all over it and will spend a lot of time digging into why things happened the way they did in various markets. We have a year and a half before Episode IX comes out."

Mario Tennis Aces Is Everything it Needs to Be

With what looks to be a return to form for Camelot Software's sports games prowess, Mario Tennis is back and in full swing with Mario Tennis Aces. It's the eighth installment in the series and the first game to feature a fully fleshed out story mode since Mario Tennis: Power Tour on the Game Boy Advance. It features a host of recognizable characters, multiple Tournament modes, and both local and online multiplayer. So, put on your cleats and get ready to hit the astroturf with Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch.

At first glance, the base gameplay may appear similar to that of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, but if the preview build I played is any indication at all, Aces looks to be a true evolution of the franchise. It's the Mario Tennis experience we all know and love, except it's fused with some fighting game elements that add an entirely new layer of competition to the core gameplay.

Octopath Traveler: On the Town With Cyrus the Smooth-Talking Scholar

Octopath Traveler – then titled simply “Project Octopath Traveler” – had me at hello.

The art style of Square Enix’s RPG boldly asked – and answered – the question, “What if 16-bit graphics were dynamically lit with volumetric fog?” When the surprise playable demo dropped onto the Nintendo eShop last fall, I was pleased to see that the gameplay lived up to the uniquely impressive visuals. Now, as the July release nears, I played another 30 minutes of the octo-heroed RPG and its Bravely Default-esque turn-based combat system and once again came away very impressed.

This was my first introduction to Cyrus the Scholar, who joins Primrose the Dancer and Olberic the Warrior as the characters we’ve seen so far. Cyrus is a bit...self-confident, proudly boasting about himself in his conversations. He used to be an instructor at an academy but he got fired. His overarching goal is to try and find a missing tome. His action path is Scrutinize, which lets him get extra information, such as rumors, from conversations with people. (Olberic’s is Challenge, if you’ll recall from the demo, which let him challenge anyone, even townsfolk, to a fight.)

Rosario Dawson Unsure If She’ll Return to Netflix Marvel Shows

Rosario Dawson, AKA Marvel's Claire Temple, is unsure if she'll return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to ComicBook.com, when asked at MCM Comic Con in London whether she would be returning to the MCU after Luke Cage Season 2, Dawson was uncertain.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Dawson said:

"I don’t know if I’ll be back after this, to be honest, but it’s been an amazing few years. I’ve been on a lot of different shows. I mean, I don’t know if maybe they do a third season of Luke Cage potentially, or maybe if they figure out some kind of way for me to be on The Punisher – just so I can feel like I’ve done every show. But it’s been like, my daughter is in high school, so I kinda wanna not be 3,000 miles away for work."

Harry Potter: Alan Rickman’s Letters Reveal He Was ‘Frustrated’ by Snape Role

It seems there were moments when Alan Rickman wasn't all too happy with portraying Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise.

Per Deadline, a collection of letters released for auction reveal Rickman was sometimes "frustrated" with the role. In one letter, producer David Heyman acknowledged Rickman's unhappiness.

“Thank you for making HP2 a success," Heyman wrote in the letter. "I know, at times, you are frustrated but please know that you are an integral part of the films. And you are brilliant.”

Another note reveals Rickman thought Snape was being mishandled by director David Yates in the Half-Blood Prince.

“Shocking” Pokémon News to Be Announced This Week

"Shocking" Pokémon news is to be announced on Japanese TV later this week.

According to Pokémon fansite Serebii.net, Japanese children's TV show, Oha Suta, will share this exciting Pokémon news during its 31 May episode, with the show's website initially calling the announcement "a moment a new story begins."

Clearly sensing it got everyone too riled up, the website has since changed this description, instead writing the episode will be "full of Pokémon information."

The episode is due to air at 7:05am JST on Thursday 31 May (that's 3:05pm PT / 6:05pm ET / 11:05pm UK on the 30 May, or 8:05am AEST on the 31st), however no other details have been given about what the news will be.

Fortnite Seemingly About to Get Its First Vehicle

It seems Fortnite Battle Royale is about to get its first drivable vehicle - in the form of a shopping cart.

Fortnite's 'new updates' section teases a shopping cart is "coming soon", with the description reading "roll into battle alone or with a buddy." You can see the update below:

Unfortunately, developer Epic Games hasn't given away any more than this, so we don't know how exactly a shopping cart vehicle will work or when it will be added to the game. However, it seems the vehicle will be able to hold two people at once.
