Rampage Director Brad Peyton’s 6 Favorite Monster Movies
How was Rampage influenced by my love of monster cinema? Before I jump into that, I have to explain a rule of mine. When I get involved in a project, I deliberately avoid watching other movies. So on Rampage, I steered clear of all other "monster movies" in an attempt to find my own muses therefore define my own tone and style.
That said, I’m also a giant nerd who loves walking out of a movie theater and analyzing everything I just saw with my friends… SO LET’S CHAT MONSTER MOVIES!!!
I can’t say any single movie influenced my approach to directing Rampage, but the spirit of creativity and ingenuity in my list of monster movies shows how important simply enjoying watching a movie can be, and that was my priority in making Rampage - to allow the audience to let go and drop into a story that is just going to be an enjoyable experience.
