If You Miss Breaking Bad, Starz’s Counterpart is the Perfect Replacement

Counterpart just aired the final episode of its first season, making it the perfect time to look back on an excellent freshman run that will, if there's any justice, see J.K Simmons leading the race for awards glory come Emmy time. (Light character spoilers but no plot specifics follow.)

Simmons plays both Howard Silk (inhabiting what we are led to believe is the “real” world, much like ours, in Berlin) and Howard Prime (who lives in what the show refers to as the Prime world, a parallel to Howard Silk’s). They are the same person, with the same exact DNA and family, yet they live two very different lives. The plot exists to bring them together and answer the overarching question of the series: what happens when you meet the person you could have been?

Original X-Men May (Finally) Be Going Back In Time

Marvel Comics released a teaser for Extermination, a story featuring the X-Men Blue team by writer Ed Brisson and artist Pepe Larraz. The text "Exterminate the past. Eliminate the future." at the bottom certainly sounds foreboding, and given that the image shows the team's original and current looks, we're taking a wild guess that this story will be the last chapter in their time-travel story.

Back in 2012, the comic series All-New X-Men saw Beast bring the five original X-Men - Jean Grey, Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, and Beast - to the present so they could help fix the future. These time doppelgangers have been a part of the Marvel Universe ever since and some of them have gone on adventures with other superhero teams or even starred in their own solo series, like Cyclops and Jean Grey. Not that it's unusual for time-displaced characters like Cable and Rachel Grey to stick around for good, but it was always assumed these young X-Men would eventually go back to their original place in the timeline, and Extermination just might be their ticket home.

John Cena Thinks His WWE’s Attitude Era Persona Wouldn’t Work Now

John Cena doesn't think WWE's Attitude Era from the 1990s would work today.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Cena shared his thoughts on why the Atttiude Era and his initial foul-mouthed rapper gimmick would not fit in WWE's current PG environment. The 16-time world champion explained he started changing his persona to that of The Marine once more and more families started showing up to live shows in the mid-2000s.

"Coming in in 2002 you’re still riding the coattails of the Attitude era," Cena said. "It’s 18-35-year-old males, it’s very visceral, the entertainment is very extreme. Fast forward to 2004, 2005, 2006, more families are showing up. and I don’t feel comfortable saying the things I was saying on the microphone because I got to look at a little kid and at that point, I’m supposed to be the good guy?"

Avengers: Infinity War Directors Tell Fans Not to Spoil the Movie

Avengers: Infinity War directors, The Russo brothers have released a statement asking fans not to spoil their movie in the coming months.

With the brothers about to begin a press tour, the Russos have assured fans that only selected footage of the film will be shown to viewers before the film's LA premiere (taking place on April 23). To clarify, that stipulation applies to press, too - journalists will only see portions of the film ahead of their interviews with the film's stars and directors.

Intriguingly, the Russos also say that "only a handful of people know the film’s true plot". Coupled with asking fans not to spoil the film, it seems there will be major events we don't necessarily see coming.

How DC’s Movies Have Improved on the Comics

Plenty of great films are based on books. It can be challenging enough to translate that source material to a new medium, much less improve upon it. But it does happen. And as we've seen from the growing lineup of superhero movies over the years, sometimes comic book movies can spark inspired changes that make our favorite heroes and villains that much better.

From classic films like Superman: The Movie to modern favorites like The Dark Knight, here are a bunch of times where DC movies improved the source material. Watch the video above or check out the slideshow below!

We'll see if the DCEU can continue building on the source material when Aquaman hits theaters on December 21. Here's a guide to every upcoming DCEU movie.
