John Woo Made a Lost in Space Reboot and Nobody Saw It
It’s been 53 years since the Robinson family originally got “Lost in Space,” in a TV series that might seem like a pop culture footnote but was - in its original run - more popular than Star Trek. But whereas Gene Roddenberry’s creation went on to spawn six TV spin-offs, a blockbuster movie franchise and an endless revenue stream via lucrative merchandising tie-ins, Irwin Allen’s Lost in Space has floundered for half a century -- including a stillborn reboot directed by action movie legend John Woo, the helmer of The Killer, Hard Boiled and Face/Off. But now the franchise has a new shot as relevance as yet another remake debuts on Netflix, so what better time to look back at the Lost in Space that almost -- but never -- was.
New Soulcalibur 6 Character Announced
Bandai Namco has confirmed fan-favorite character Siegfried is joining Soulcalibur VI's growing roster of fighters.
Announced via a new gameplay trailer, Siegfried and his giant sword are coming back for the upcoming sixth entry in the fighting game franchise. This time around, however, he seems to be sporting slightly longer hair and a scarf to boot.
Check out the trailer below to see Siegfried in action with his iconic armor and sword.
The warrior has appeared in every single Soulcalibur entry so far and will once again go up against his corrupted counterpart Nightmare, who's also confirmed for the new game.
Soulcalibur VI has now revealed a total of ten characters from its roster. Alongside Siegfried, The Witcher 3's Geralt is joining the fight as well as Ivy, Zasalamel, Mitsurugi, Sophitia, Kilik, Nightmare, Xianghua, and newcomer, Grøh.
A Playable Love Sequence? A Way Out Creator Wants to Do it
Josef Fares, the creator of A Way Out and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, spoke to IGN about his gameplay aspirations for future projects, saying he hopes to one day create a game with a playable love sequence.
"Why can't we make gameplay out of a love sequence? Like really play it, and I don't mean just push 'X' and 'Y.' Those are the kinds of things I want to explore," Fares said on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered (see below for the full episode).
"I think you can actually make gameplay into a beautiful love scene and actually play it and control it. That would be my dream to reach at some point," he added.
Kevin Smith Invites Stan Lee to Live With Him Amidst Abuse Reports
Following reports that Stan Lee is a victim of elder abuse, Kevin Smith has reached out to the co-creator of some of Marvel's most iconic heroes to offer him a helping hand.
A story from The Hollywood Reporter alleges that since his wife's death last year, Lee has been involved in disputes with his daughter over finances and his estate, with multiple figures in his life looking to take advantage of the pair. Just last week, a report surfaced that Stan Lee's blood had been stolen to sign comics that were subsequently sold in L.A. for up to $500 a pop.
What Did You Think of This Week’s Comics?
It was another big week for the comic book industry, especially with Captain America reaching the big 700 milestone and Domino finally getting her own solo series. Check out our new reviews and thinkpieces for the week, and let us know your favorite new releases in the comments below.

"It's easy to dismiss Mark Waid and Chris Samnee's short Captain America run as a mere palate cleanser, helping to bridge the gap between Nick Spencer's Secret Empire epic and Ta-Nehisi Coates' upcoming series. But while it certainly fulfills that purpose, it also tells an enjoyable, tightly crafted story about a hero getting back in touch with himself and his country. Captain America #700 delivers a rousing finish to this story and serves as one more reminder that Waid and Samnee are among the best teams working in comics today." -Jesse

Mulan: Disney’s Live-Action Remake Casts Rogue One’s Donnie Yen
Rogue One's Donnie Yen is set to star as new character Commander Tung opposite Liu Yifei's Mulan in Disney’s live-action adaptation.
Deadline reports that Yen will star as Tung, a "mentor and teacher" to Mulan. Yen is familiar to Western audiences for his role as Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but his star shines even brighter in China, where he is best known for his work in the Ip Man franchise.
New Zealander Niki Caro (Whale Rider) is directing the adaptation. According to Caro, the live-action Mulan may not be a musical. Instead, it will be "a big, girly martial arts epic."
