J.J. Abrams Tries (and Fails) to Explain Cloverfield Paradox’s Ending
J.J. Abrams has offered his take on The Cloverfield Paradox's controversial ending with little luck.
Warning: Spoilers ahead...
The Cloverfield Paradox introduces mind-bending concepts such as time travel, alternate dimensions, and inter-dimensional travel all in an attempt to connect to the previous two Cloverfield films. This connection is a bit flimsy at best, but Paradox does hint that the Cloverfield station tore a hole between dimensions during its interdimensional journey. As a result, creatures like the original Cloverfield monster from the first movie arrive on Earth to cause chaos.
In the final scene in Paradox, there's a shot of a similar-looking monster and, up until now, it's been unclear if this is in fact the same creature from the first film. During an interview on The Empire Film Podcast, Abrams and director Julius Onah confirmed it is indeed the same monster, only slightly bigger. However, their explanation of the rest of the movie and its ending is a bit more confusing.
AMC’s McMafia Is The Godfather for a New Generation
If you're looking to scratch that crime drama itch then you should check out McMafia, AMC’s excellent new series. It’s The Godfather for a new generation. The show is called McMafia because it’s all about franchising crime, just like you would a McDonald’s. Now, in The Godfather, most of the crime was relegated to New York and Las Vegas, but these gangsters are dealing in Dubai, Tel Aviv, Mumbai, and Prague. In the digital age, they can control shipments and lock down deals with the press of a button. Imagine what kind of empire Michael Corleone could have amassed if he’d had an iPad.
The story centers around Alex Godman, played by James Norton, who looks like he’s auditioning to be the new James Bond in every scene with his tailored suits and dashing good looks. Like Michael from The Godfather, Alex is a good son trying to make his way in the legitimate business world, but his father and uncle have ties to the Russian mob. After an attack on his family, Alex takes it upon himself to protect the ones he loves, which pulls him deeper into the world of organized crime. Been there, done that, right?

PUBG PC Leaderboards Will Be Reset Today
The leaderboards for the PC version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be wiped at 6:00 PM Pacific Time today, February 26, PUBG Corp. announced.
The next multiplayer season "will be announced soon," the studio said in a tweet. All matches played between the reset and the new season will not be ranked.
PUBG's PC leaderboards were last reset on January 30, 2018. Leaderboards were also reset for the launch of the game's 1.0 version.
The upcoming reset comes on the heels of PUBG's ongoing anti-cheat arms race. Just recently, PUBG Corp. delayed a wave of anti-cheat solutions, and shortly after, delayed the game's next content update to prioritize fighting cheaters.
Kevin Smith Survives ‘Massive’ Heart Attack
Kevin Smith has survived a "massive" heart attack.
Smith revealed on Twitter that after his first standup performance last night, Smith had "a massive heart attack," after which he cancelled the night's second show to go to the hospital. He tweeted a picture from his visit at the hospital, saying the doctor there "saved his life."
After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground! pic.twitter.com/M5gSnW9E5h
