Shazam! New DC Movie Begins Production
Production has officially begun on New Line's upcoming Shazam! movie.
The film will be an origin story of the DC hero, who's played by Zachary Levi. Thanks to an ancient wizard (Ron Cephas Jones), by simply saying "Shazam!" a 14-year-old foster boy named Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, can transform into the adult superhero. In the movie, Earth's Mightiest Mortal will have to thwart the evil efforts of the villainous Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).
The Cloverfield Paradox’s 5 Biggest WTF Questions
Full SPOILERS follow for The Cloverfield Paradox.
While many were stuck on the couch in a post-Super Bowl food coma, Netflix dropped The Cloverfield Paradox for all of us to watch while we let the nachos and chicken wings digest. Unfortunately, what we got was a bit of a mess (check out our full review here!) that had us scratching our heads, wondering what in the heck we just saw. So that can only mean that it’s time for our 5 biggest WTF questions about The Cloverfield Paradox...
The whole notion of the multiverse throughout the film is absurd. All the rules are seemingly thrown out the door once the particle accelerator goes off. With most interdimensional shows, like The Flash and Counterpart, there seems to be some rhyme or reason why something is different. A bad decision or a tragedy in a person’s life can drastically affect who they turn out to be. But monsters coming out of the sky -- how does that work?

Arrows has cast former League of Assassins member Athena.
TV Line reports Kyra Zagorsky, known for her role as Dr. Julie Walker on Helix, will play the fearless League of Assassins alum. Not much else about the character is currently known. There's also no word yet on when Athena will show up in the current sixth season of the show and how big of a role the character will have. It's also recently been reported Katrina Law will reprise her role as Nyssa Al Ghul in Episode 16, “The Thanatos Guild."
Super Mario Odyssey Producer Confirms Whether Toad Wears a Hat
Super Mario Odyssey Producer Yoshiaki Koizumi has sat down and answered some of the big questions around Super Mario Odyssey.
Nintendo recently released a video with Koizumi answering tough questions about the hit platformer, including why Mario doesn't have a belly button, whether or not Toad's wearing a hat. He even touches on Mario's love life.
"So, we're jumping right into that question, are we?" he quipped when the video opens with a question about the lack of Mario's belly button.
"Well, to be perfectly honest, I didn't really expect that to be a topic among fans." Koizumi explained, adding "Once I heard that people were talking so much about Mario's belly button, it made me start to think about whether we should revisit the topic on the design side".

Konami Investigating Why Hidden MGS 5 Cutscene Went Live
Over two years after its release, a hidden cutscene within Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has suddenly been unlocked, and Konami says it's not sure what caused it.
The nuclear disarmament cutscene was discovered by dataminers, and subsequently posted on YouTube, shortly after The Phantom Pain was released in September 2015. However, the condition necessary to authentically trigger the cutscene has long been considered nearly impossible to meet: all nuclear weapons at the FOBs of every player on a specific platform have to be dismantled.
DayZ Coming to Xbox Game Preview Sometime This Year
The development team behind DayZ has confirmed the game is coming to Xbox One "at some point this year."
When asked on Twitter if DayZ is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the developer replied: "Yes! Coming to Xbox Game Preview at some point this year, we’re not sure about PS4 yet, but we'll release there too, eventually - just don’t know when yet."
DayZ's Xbox One release was hinted at back in 2014, with creator Dean Hall saying he wants to bring it to Microsoft's console as well as PS4. Last year, lead producer Eugen Harton said, "DayZ will be out of Early Access next year, and we'll also finally deliver it to console players in 2018."
Dead Rising Developer Capcom Vancouver Hit by Layoffs
Dead Rising developer Capcom Vancouver has been hit by layoffs.
A Capcom representative provided the following statement to IGN:
Capcom Vancouver has undergone a restructure which has impacted approximately 30 percent of the studio, as part of its regular periodic assessment of upcoming projects and overall studio goals. The team is continuing to work hard to support the recent release of Puzzle Fighter for mobile and is dedicated to its flagship Dead Rising series.
According to a source that spoke to Kotaku, Capcom Vancouver's unannounced project has been canceled, and Capcom has cut the scope on the next Dead Rising game. The unannounced game had not been greenlit as it was a very early prototype. The title would have been a third-person action-adventure game taking place in an alternate reality version of New York.

Does Solo: A Star Wars Story Recreate the Kessel Run?
We've finally got our first actual look at Solo: A Star Wars Story, a prequel that will focus on the exploits of a younger Han Solo, before the events of the original trilogy.
We’ve known for some time that the Kessel spice mines will play a role in the movie (Ron Howard himself has confirmed this), but after seeing the trailer, we have some clues that more than a little inspiration has been taken from the old Expanded Universe.
As a quick refresher, the Expanded Universe (or EU) was the previous Star Wars continuity that included the novels, comics, games, and other stories published before the property was sold to Disney. After that acquisition, Disney de-canonized almost all of that material (it’s still available, but under the “Legends” umbrella now), paving the way for the timeline we’re seeing developed with the sequel trilogy, the new Marvel comics, Battlefront II, and other post-Disney material.
