Nindie Spotlight – Mulaka for Nintendo Switch Developer Interview
If you've been paying close attention to the media you may have noticed a unique relationship developing between some of the world's most ancient cultures and the newest medium for storytelling.
Similarly to Upper One Games' Never Alone, which worked heavily in tune the native Alaskan Iñupiaq people to bring global attention and preservation of their culture's stories, Mulaka is the latest title to join the digital preservation front. It's an indie-developed 3D action-adventure puzzle game from Mexico-based studio Lienzo that centers around the Tarahumara indigenous culture: the native people of the land who live alongside them in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Planet of the Apes VR Game Announced
A Planet of the Apes VR game is coming to PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive on April 3.
Titled Crisis on the Planet of the Apes, the VR adventure is experienced from the perspective of an ape trying to escape a "heavily guarded scientific facility." Crisis is set five years after the Simian Flu outbreak, the widespread virus that devastated humanity and granted apes human-like intelligence.
Crisis is developed by Imaginati Studios, in partnership with FoxNext VR Studio, 20th Century Fox's VR-focused subsidiary. Imaginati also developed Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier, the cinematic adventure game released last year on PlayStation 4.
Fortnite Is Getting Jetpacks
Epic has announced its hugely successful free-to-play game, Fortnite, will soon be getting jetpacks.
The announcement was made via an in-game notification. Details are sparse, as the update simply reads, "Jetpack (coming soon): Take the fight to all new heights."
Jetpacks are coming to Fortnite!
Given how Epic typically handles announcements for the game, which are usually the week before an update goes live, we may see players soaring across the map as soon as March 9. The image also sports a yellow background, which could mean jetpacks may be a legendary drop, but Epic has yet to officially reveal all the information about the item.
Shazam Movie Villain Doctor Sivana Explained
Shazam is the next big DC hero joining the DC Extended Universe in 2019. But his first DCEU outing won't pit him against Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam, as many fans expected. Instead, he'll be clashing with another of his long-time enemies, Doctor Sivana (as played by Mark Strong).
Sivana may be a big part of the Shazam comics, but don't fret if you're unfamiliar with this mad scientist villain. We're breaking down everything you need to know about Doctor Sivana and his rivalry with the World's Mightiest Mortal. Read on!
If Shazam is like Superman, then Doctor Sivana is very much his Lex Luthor. This mad scientist is Billy Batson's oldest and most persistent foe. And where Shazam is a magical hero empowered by six mighty gods, Sivana has the power of science at his disposal. Sivana is a super-genius who believes the world doesn't appreciate what he has to offer (hence why he found a new home on the planet Venus). As a result, he'll keep inventing new doomsday weapons to hold the world ransom until the day he finally overcomes the meddlesome Captain Marvel Family.
Exclusive First Look: The Autobiography of Mr. Spock
He has been... and always shall be... our friend.
And now the most famous Vulcan of them all, Mr. Spock, is getting his autobiography released thanks to Titan Books, the same folks who previously gave us The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard and The Autobiography of James T. Kirk. Like those books, The Autobiography of Mr. Spock was written by David A. Goodman and will be an "in-universe memoir chronicling the story of one of Starfleet's fan favorites." It will also include an eight-page full color-plate section and will be published in hardback by Titan on October 16, 2018.
The Rocketeer is Getting an Animated Series Reboot
The Rocketeer is finally getting a reboot, but probably not the way you imagined.
Disney Junior has announced production on a new animated adventure series inspired by the 1980s Dave Stevens comic books and the 1991 film of the same name.
Aimed at kids aged 2-7 and their young-at-heart relatives, The Rocketeer will follow Kit, a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing she's next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-powered jet pack. She'll be joined in her new mission with her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and airplane mechanic uncle, Ambrose.
The announcement was made by Joe D'Ambrosia, senior vice president of Original Programming at Disney Junior, who said, "We are very excited to introduce The Rocketeer to our young Disney Junior audience. The vast storytelling found in the original comic books provides the perfect opportunity to create an exciting new adventure series told from a young girl superhero perspective that the whole family can enjoy together."
Metal Gear Survive to Receive Co-op DLC
Konami is rolling out Metal Gear Survive co-op missions next month, while both daily and weekly missions are now live.
The co-op DLC will consist of Rescue Missions - a brand new mission type - due out on an unspecified date in March. The mode will have players team up to rescue soldiers in need of help.
"Cooperate and coordinate with your squad to go rescue soldiers seeking for help," reads Konami's press release. "Compared to Salvage Missions, those missions will require a whole new level of cooperation and team spirit."
Meanwhile, the daily and weekly missions will drop "more rewards and have special battle conditions" to spice up gameplay with different strategies.
Star Wars Rebels Follows Up Tragedy With Triumph
Warning: this article contains spoilers for the most recent episodes of Star Wars Rebels!
Last week, Star Wars Rebels shifted in a somber direction as Kanan Jarrus made the ultimate sacrifice in order to save his family (and score a significant blow against the Empire in the process). This week, our heroes finished grieving for their fallen comrade and took up a new mission against the Empire. And in the process, they encountered a familiar face from seasons past - Ahsoka Tano.
A prominent player in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka more recently resurfaced during Season 2 of Rebels. There, she aided Kanan and the rest in their battles against the Sith Inquisitors. Ahsoka's character arc reached its dramatic climax in the Season 2 finale, as she dueled Darth Vader and learned that it was her former master, Anakin Skywalker, underneath that fearsome armor. Vader himself escaped the ruins of the Sith temple, but Ahsoka's fate remained unclear up until tonight's new episodes.
