Opinion: Black Panther Saved Marvel Comics

When it comes to superheroes like Spider-Man or Batman, you can ask 20 different comic readers what their favorite stories are and you might get 20 different answers. Black Panther is a different story. Despite the fact that this character has been around since the 1960's and headlined a number of ongoing books and limited series, the vast majority of fans will give you one creator's name in response - Christopher Priest. Rarely has a writer contributed so much to a Marvel hero or exerted such a lasting influence. Priest's Black Panther run didn't merely elevate a formerly minor player in the Avengers franchise, it helped save Marvel Comics as a whole during a time when the company was at its lowest ebb.

George Lucas Contributed to a Solo Scene

George Lucas contributed to a small scene in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed Lucas had planned to do a short set visit. However, the filmmaker ended up staying for a lot longer and helped Ron Howard direct a small scene in the movie involving the Millennium Falcon and Han Solo.

“He had intended to just kind of stop by and say hi, and he stayed five hours,” Kennedy said. “There’s even one little moment in a scene that — I can’t tell you what, sorry — but in the scene on the Millennium Falcon where George said, ‘Why doesn’t Han just do this.’”

Potential Cloverfield 4 Is a ‘Crazy Movie,’ J.J. Abrams Says

What may be Cloverfield 4 is a "crazy movie," according to  producer J.J. Abrams.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Abrams briefly touched on the potential fourth Cloverfield film, called Overlord for now, and how it could fit into the Cloverfield franchise. Though the filmmaker remained vague about whether the movie will end up actually being Cloverfield 4, despite recent reports suggesting it is, Abrams is still excited about the project nonetheless.

How Many People Know Who Batman Is in the DCEU?

While not as easy to piece together as - say - figuring out Clark Kent is actually Superman, anyone who's determined enough, and searches hard enough, could surely surmise that Batman is billionaire Bruce Wayne.

Still, you want it to be a challenge for that person, right? They shouldn't just be able to stumble across the information, especially if they weren't even actively looking for it. But ever since Alfred escorted Vicki Vale into the Batcave back in 1989 because he thought she was Bruce's soulmate after one date, the Batman films have had some issues when it comes to keeping secrets. Even Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy had the Caped Crusader clueing in those close to him about his alter ego.

The Spider-Women Are the Stars of Marvel’s Spider-Man

Last year, Marvel turned heads by ending the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man and quickly following it up with a brand new series, Marvel's Spider-Man. Many questioned the purpose of replacing one Spider-Man cartoon with another, especially given that both shows focus on a high school-age Peter Parker. However, with time it's become clear that there's more distinguishing Marvel's Spider-Man than simply its rebooted continuity and overhauled animation style. Marvel's Spider-Man is the first animated series that truly feels like an ensemble project. For the first time, Spidey is on equal footing with heroes like Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy and Anya Corazon.

That ensemble approach has really become evident with the show's current five-part storyline, "Spider-Island." A loose adaptation of the comic book storyline of the same name, "Spider-Island" explores what happens when millions of Manhattan residents suddenly develop spider powers. That plot twist has allowed for both Spider-Gwen (voiced by Laura Bailey) and Spider-Girl (voiced by Melanie Minichino) to join Peter and Miles in the superhero game, effectively transforming Spider-Man from a solo player to a member of a full-fledged superhero team.

Nothing quite matches the experience of playing games and watching movies as they’re projected on your living room wall. I became a projector disciple over 15 years ago and have never looked back. But projectors can be bulky, aren’t very attractive, and need to live on a stand in the back of your room, or mounted on the ceiling (which introduces a whole bunch of installation issues).

The Tick Finally Meets a Spoon in This Exclusive Sneak Peek

The Tick returns to Amazon Prime Video on February 23, and in the remaining six episodes of Season 1, things are going to get weird(er).

After ending the first half of the season on a humdinger of a cliffhanger, creator Ben Edlund tells IGN that "we’re going to be feasting on Arthur meeting and dealing with his lifelong nemesis the Terror," after the chilling villain captured our long-suffering sidekick-turned-hero in episode 6.

In drawing Arthur further into The Terror's world, the show will also be exploring more of Arthur's past, and the traumatic incident that bound him to the villain in the first place.

"One of the fun things that happens in the season that I’m really excited to have people get to watch is the Flag Five and the story of the death of those heroes and the death of Arthur’s father. That hangs like a specter over the story," Edlund says. "It’s really a big part of the first season, Arthur’s origin story and his first moments with the Terror. But also Midnight, who’s another member of the Flag Five... he steps into the second half and we learn more about how he relates to the Flag Five and get to have fun with that character, and get to unfold what the Terror started that day, and in a lot of ways, how those things come back to both pay dividends to the Terror, and also in some ways act as a thorn in his side."
