IGN UK Podcast #423: What Remains of Alex Garland
This week is an absolute banger! Not only do we have Alysia, Rory & Gav chatting about Fortnite, a new VR game called Seed and the fact that some of us have only just got around to playing What Remains of Edith Finch BUT we also have a big exciting interview with Alex Garland.
The Ex Machina director talks about his brand new film, Annihilation. He's also a ridiculously dedicated gamer and loves any opportunity to talk about Dark Souls. Lovely.

13 Big Things Coming From Marvel and DC in May
Marvel Comics and DC Comics both released their full solicitations for May 2018 this week, offering readers a closer look at the new books in the pipeline. May is shaping up to be a huge month for both publishers, with Marvel beginning the "Fresh Start" initiative and DC paving the way for Brian Michael Bendis' Superman books and Scott Snyder's Justice League books.
Rather than simply reprint Marvel and DC's solicits in their complete form, we want to spotlight the most interesting new books and storylines debuting in May. Scroll down to learn what you should be keeping an eye out for that month, and let us know what you think of this new format in the comments below.
Earlier this week, Marvel pulled back the curtain on "Fresh Start," their latest relaunch aimed at giving readers easy jumping-on points to a variety of titles. Only a handful of Fresh Start books will actually be debuting in May, but we're very intrigued by what's been revealed thus far.

Detective Pikachu Amiibo Unlocks Cutscenes Faster
The Detective Pikachu 3DS game and the accompanying oversized amiibo are getting their western release next month, and players will be able to use the giant amiibo to unlock the game's cutscenes.
Tapping the Detective Pikachu amiibo on the 3DS during the game will unlock the cutscenes, that can provide "some useful hints."
Naturally, you can still unlock them the old-fashioned way through gameplay, but the amiibo functionality lets you access them much more quickly.
The title released in Japan on February 3, 2016, and the western release is set for March 23, 2018, so we've had to wait over two years to see Pikachu find himself gainful employment outside of roughing up other pokemon.

Stardock Counter-Sued for Copyright Theft by Star Control Creators
In an ongoing legal battle over who owns the rights to the Star Control series, Star Control creators Fred Ford and Paul Reiche have announced their intention to counter-sue Stardock for copyright theft.
The point of contention is over who owns the rights to Star Control. In 2013, developer Stardock acquired the rights to the Star Control franchise from Atari, after the company sold off its assets when it went bankrupt. Stardock announced the return of the series with Star Control: Origins in 2016.

A Visual History of Batman
Most would agree that Batman has one of the best superhero costumes ever designed. It's sleek, simple and yet very striking. But even that winning design hasn't stopped artists and costume designers from making many tweaks over the years. One need only compare the classic Batman of the Golden Age DC comics to Christian Bale's armored Caped Crusader to the version seen in The LEGO Batman Movie to know that there are a lot of ways to interpret this iconic hero.
With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at the many visual forms Batman has taken over the decades. From comics to animation to film to video games, these are the most memorable and significant Batman incarnations of all time...

Paladins developer Hi-Rez Studios is removing the controversial loot box system introduced in the game's Cards Unbound update, the studio announced today.

"Your voice has been heard loud and clear. Our team will be working over the next major release cycle to remove Cards Unbound from the game."
