Metal Gear Survive Dev Appears to Call Out Konami in Hidden Message

A rogue developer (or developers) appears to have hidden a message in Metal Gear Survive, lambasting Survive's director and producer while mourning Kojima Productions, the former developer of the series.

Right after you're prompted to enter your name at the beginning of Survive's campaign, you'll see it added to a clipboard among a group of other military code-names. Eagle eyed users on both Reddit and Twitter have noticed that if you take the first letter of each of the last names on that page, it spells out "KJP Forever", which could be interpreted as "Kojima Productions Forever" (with a break between the P and the F for the player's custom name).

Why Max from Life is Strange Is the Most Relatable Video Game Character I’ve Ever Played

At the start of 2015 I was in the middle of my third university degree after dropping out of the previous two, had just come out of my most serious relationship to date and had moved into a share house to live independently for the first time.

It was a period in my life in which I was going through significant change and learning; dealing with the slow and often confusing transition from childhood, school and lack of responsibility, to well, adulthood. At the same time, and on the other side of the planet, a relatively unknown French studio called Dontnod was gearing up to release the first episode of its next big project, an episodic game that would be a beacon for their success and own growth as a studio.

Payday 2 Waiting for Nintendo Permission to Use Voice Chat on Switch

Publisher Starbreeze Studios has said it's waiting on Nintendo to be able to use the company's companion VOIP app for Payday 2.

Kotaku reports Payday 2, which relies heavily on communication due to its cooperative nature, will eventually use the Nintendo Switch Online App to facilitate voice chat-in game, pending Nintendo's permission.

"We are waiting to be able to participate in Nintendo's VOIP app solution," Starbreeze Studios told Kotaku "As soon as we are given the go-ahead, this is definitely on our list to look into to update."

Nintendo consoles have famously not included any means of voice chat between players while in-game. The Switch is no different on its own but does work with the Nintendo Switch Online App, which came out last July, to use voice chat for compatible games.

Papers, Please Short Film Out Now, Free to Watch

An excellent 10 minute film based on Lucas Pope's powerful 2013 game Papers, Please is out now.

The film, which is free to watch on YouTube and Steam, does a wonderful job at capturing the bleak tone of Lucas Pope's frantic puzzler and the moral quandaries suffered by his border crossing immigration officer in the made-up state of Arstotzka.

In our review, we called Papers, Please "a simulation of that moment that a cog in the machine’s heart finally stops beating, or a kind of hidden object game where what you’re mostly looking for is a glimmer of hope."

Black Panther Has Second-Largest Second Weekend Ever

Black Panther had stellar second weekend at the domestic box office, holding strong in first place with an estimated $108 million.

The Chadwick Boseman-led Marvel movie had the second-largest second weekend ever, outpacing the second weekend hauls of both The Avengers and Jurassic World. Black Panther's second weekend is only behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which made $149.2 million in 2015.

Having now grossed $400 million in North America, director Ryan Coogler's record-breaking MCU film is not only the third-fastest movie to reach the milestone—reaching $400M in just 10 days—it's on pace to soon eclipse Captain America: Civil War and Iron Man 3's domestic hauls of $408.1 million and $409 million, respectively.

Ash vs. Evil Dead: Season 3 Cheat Sheet

When the announcement first hit a few years ago, many of us were absolutely stunned. Could it really be? Was Bruce Campbell really returning to continue the adventures of that idiot with a chainsaw, Ashley J. “Ash” Williams, so many years after we’d last seen him in Army of Darkness? And as a TV show???

It seemed too good to be true, especially after the 2013 Evil Dead film that split fans down the middle like a blood-soaked blade – some of us loved it, some of us hated it (put me down under “love”) – and for all intents and purposes attempted to reboot the franchise… or not, because a lot of us think it was a sly sequel. Yes, because you can see Ash’s car at one point, although it may be just a nod… but this article isn’t about that. Moving on…
