Golden Globes: All the TV and Movie Winners
The 75th Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Seth Meyers, are now officially in the books!
On the TV side of things, Big Little Lies garnered quite a bit of recognition. In addition to winning Best Miniseries, Laura Dern, Alexander Skarsgard, and Nicole Kidman all received awards for their performances in the HBO show. It was also a solid night for the The Handmaid’s Tale. The Hulu show won Best Drama Series, and Elisabeth Moss received the award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
With regard to movies, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was the big winner, taking home several awards, including Best Motion Picture Drama. Lady Bird also scored a couple wins. The film won Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, and Saoirse Ronan won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
Star Trek: Jonathan Frakes on Directing Discovery
As Star Trek: Discovery makes its return after its mid-season hiatus for "Chapter 2" of the CBS All Access series' first season, the crew of the titular ship are joined by a Trek veteran -- Jonathan Frakes. The once (and future?) Riker beamed in to direct the tenth episode of the season, "Despite Yourself," which brings Michael Burnham, Captain Lorca, Ash Tyler and the rest into some very unfamiliar (for them anyway) territory.
Frakes of course is a veteran director at this point. While he still acts and does some voice work here or there, he has essentially transitioned behind the camera. And he got his start in the center seat on Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he shot some of the more popular episodes of that series before jumping to the big screen for Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection. In the years since he has helmed other features and a ton of TV, but of course his return to the corridors of a Starfleet vessel are a moment for the man who invented his own form of sitting in a chair. I jumped on the phone recently to speak with Frakes about his return to Star Trek. As we talked, a blizzard was heading to the East Coast, threatening to ruin (or at least postpone) Frakes' plan to join the annual Star Trek Cruise. Alas, we don't have transporters yet! But instead we get the following highlights from my conversation with him.

Michael Pena Talks Ant-Man and the Wasp
Michael Pena may have hinted that a third Ant-Man movie could be in the cards.
Although they are both parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor, who plays Luis opposite Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man, had never previously met Chris Hemsworth, aka Thor, until they made 12 Strong, the military drama opening later this month.
When asked by IGN if he discussed the MCU on the set of 12 Strong, he told IGN: “We talked about it on the first day. It's a whole different kind of club to be in, the Marvel Universe. I don’t know if they'll use me for the third movie, I still really don't know. It's cool to make a little bit of a mark on that Marvel Universe and it's kind of a cool club, they run a really cool studio.”

Jumanji, Insidious 4 Topple Last Jedi at Box Office
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle climbed to first place at the domestic box office in its third weekend, dethroning Star Wars: The Last Jedi with an estimated $36 million.
Director Jake Kasdan's fantasy action film saw a modest 28 percent drop in its performance compared to last weekend, making for a domestic total that now amounts to $244.4 million.
The big new release of the weekend, Insidious: The Last Key, placed second in its debut. The Adam Robitel-directed horror film, which serves as the fourth entry in the Insidious series, earned an estimated $29.3 million, putting it ahead of Insidious: Chapter 3's $22.7 million debut, but short of Chapter 2's $40.3 million opening haul.

The Big Bang Theory: Season 12 Is Likely Its Last
The upcoming twelfth season of The Big Bang Theory may be its last, while Young Sheldon has officially been renewed for Season 2.
While speaking at the Television Critics Association winter press tour (via TVLine), The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki revealed the cast and crew feel Season 12 would be a suitable time to wrap up the hit comedy show. However, nothing's officially confirmed just yet.
"The only manner in which the cast has discussed wrapping
has been that we're all going to be very sad when that day comes," Galecki said. "But I think at this point everyone's very comfortable with 12 seasons being a good time to go home and see our families."
