Is Star Trek: Discovery Course Correcting?
Spoilers follow for the latest episode of Discovery.
Sunday's episode of Star Trek: Discovery - “Vaulting Ambition,” the show's twelfth - contained no fewer than four major plot twists, which is almost par for the course by now. The most dramatic of those twists I will politely decline from discussing (even if said twist was already accurately predicted by many of the show's viewers), but a different reveal that came late in the episode presented viewers with information ripe for setting Star Trek: Discovery back on the right track. Or right trek, if you will.

Leaving Netflix in Feb: Nightmare Before Christmas, Family Guy, and More
February's official "last call" for movies and TV shows on Netflix includes Tim Burton animated joints like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride - along with the first eight seasons of Family Guy.
Plus, you'll notice a couple stand-up specials are taking a powder, like Aziz Ansari's Dangerously Delicious and Hannibal Buress' Animal Furnace.
David Slade's Hard Candy, starring Ellen Page, is also on the block, as well as classics like Brubaker, The Fury, and The Longest Day. Oh, and say goodbye to all of Burn Notice too. All in all, not too painful a purge.

PUBG Dev Donating $2 million to Gaming Charities
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer PUBG Corp. plans to donate up to $2 million to video game-related charities this year, the studio announced today.
The $2 million will be pulled from the sales of PUBG's 2017 Gamescom Invitational crates, which contained exclusive cosmetic items. The news follows PUBG Corp.'s $100,000 donation to the Twitch PUBG Winter Charity Invitational held in December 2017.
In 2018, $300,000 will go toward the PUBG Extra Life Charity Marathon, which will be held from January 29 through February 2 in support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Extra Life, now a decade old, is a charity organization that uses gaming marathons to raise funds for sick and injured kids.
8 Craziest Alternate Histories in Games
History is done. The events of the past might as well be carved in stone, because short of time travel, they’re not going to change. But in video games, everything can change — even things that already happened. Let’s delve into some of the wildest alternate histories that have ever appeared in gaming. Welcome to the worlds that weren’t.
Here’s something that didn’t happen. In the 1940s, a rich fella named Andrew Ryan — his head swimming with objectivist philosophy — didn’t build a grand underwater city called Rapture. While living there, no one discovered a substance that could alter people’s genes to give them supernatural powers. No great unrest ever occurred down there, and terrifying creatures like Splicers, Little Sisters, and Big Daddies were never created.
Sony Execs Didn’t Think Anyone Would Want Breaking Bad Merch
We're just a few days removed now from what was Breaking Bad's official 10 year anniversary, back on January 20th, and it's hard to think of that superb, groundbreaking series these days without also thinking about all the merchandise that came from it - from hoodies to Bobbleheads to actual licensed diecast models of Jesse and Walt's meth RV.
Believe it or not though, there was a time when no one was thinking about t-shirts much less rows and rows of assorted trinkets and toys.
While speaking to creator Vince Gilligan about Better Call Saul: Season 3's release on DVD and Blu-ray (it's available now at all fine retailers) the topic turned to toys and how so many scenes and costumes from the show became iconic.
Galactic Civilizations III Getting New Expansion
Stardock Entertainment is adding politics and government to Galactic Civilizations III with a new expansion named Intrigue.
This new Galactic Civilizations III expansion will let players pick out various forms of government — like a democracy, oligarchy and monarchy — and then choose cabinet members accordingly. Stardock says each one has positives and negatives, with the choice of technology and cultural ideology affecting which types of government are even available.
As a player's empire expands in the strategy game, Intrigue will see outskirt worlds wishing for independence. Commonwealth status is apparently key in these situations. According to Stardock, this designation will keep them happy and turn them into an ally without much oversight.
