Ghost Recon Wildlands Adding Rainbow Six Siege Skins

Ubisoft has announced the third free PVP update to Ghost Recon Wildlands' Ghost War PVP mode, which adds player skins from Rainbow Six Siege.

Extended Ops launches January 25 and introduces a new mode: Extraction. In the mode, one team will attempt to locate and extract a hostage, while the other team tries to stop them by any means necessary. Hostages can be found at several different locations, complicating the rescuer's job.

Alongside the new mode is the addition of new player customization options. Icon costumes are based on operators from Rainbow Six Siege and characters from the main game, and since these skins can be used in Extraction mode, Siege players should feel right at home.

Ubisoft Club Debuts AI Gaming Assistant to Help You With Your Games

Ubisoft has introduced Sam, a personal AI gaming assistant, which helps players as a new addition to the Ubisoft Club app.

Ubisoft is encouraging players to more regularly engage with their Ubisoft Club account by conversing with a chatty new AI — Sam, the Ubisoft personal gaming assistant. Sam is available in closed beta starting today in Canada as a new aspect of the Ubisoft Club mobile app on iOS and Android. Ubisoft has plans to roll the app out to more territories in the future.

Using both in-app text chat, as well as voice-to-text options, players can interact with Sam, who tracks progression in all games linked to a player’s account across all platforms. Sam can be used to check in-game stats (say, discovering your in-game K:D ratio on a map in Rainbow Six: Siege or finding out how much of Egypt you’ve explored in Assassin’s Creed Origins) with a simple question. But Sam truly aims to be an “assistant” and not just a stat tracker, as shown to IGN in a pre-release demo.

Surreal Japanese Horror Game Gets Surprise Reboot

Update: Kadokawa Corporation and Active Gaming Media Inc. have announced Yume Nikki: Dream Diary, an official reboot of 2004 cult horror game Yume Nikki. It will launch on Steam and Playism on February 23, 2018 for $19.99.

Details about the game are scarce, but based on screenshots and information posted on its official website and Steam page, it appears to be a 3D adventure game that "combines influences from the original game and other recent indie juggernauts." It will feature returning characters as well as characters creator Kikiyama cut from the original Yume Nikki. In the language box on Steam, English and Japanese are marked as available languages for the interface, but "full audio" and "subtitles" remain unchecked, which could mean Yume Nikki: Dream Diary will contain no dialogue, just like the 2004 original.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Novelization Features Han Solo Funeral Scene

Rian Johnson revealed a number of scenes cut from The Last Jedi will feature in the novelization, including Han Solo's funeral.

The news was disclosed in the latest episode of The Star Wars Show.

Johnson met with the author of the book Jason Fry and conjured up new scenes to expand on the movie.

"That's kind of the fun stuff you can get into a novel that you can't always get onto the screen," he said.

As well as Han's funeral, the novelization will feature scenes with Rose and her sister Paige Tico together, as well as a deeper exploration of the lavish Canto Bight.

The novelization with all of its expanded scenes will be available on March 6.
