The Stick of Truth Gets Standalone PS4, XB1 Launch in Feb
South Park: The Stick of Truth will soon be available as a standalone purchase for the first time on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft announced.
The game, previously included as a bonus for those who preordered last year's The Fractured But Whole, will cost $30 USD and launch on February 13. The Stick of Truth was released back in 2014 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Be sure to read IGN's review of The Stick of Truth, which we think is "the South Park video game we've always wanted." Also check out our wiki guide for the game, as well as our thoughts on The Fractured But Whole, which we also quite enjoyed.
Escape From Tarkov May Be the Most Hardcore Survival Shooter Yet
I’m a serial hoarder anytime I play a game that lets me manage my inventory. In The Elder Scrolls I tend to pick up every fork, plate, and cup I can get my hands on to later decorate my house with perfectly placed cheese wedges. Part of the reason I do this is because no matter what happens I’ll always have my stuff. If I die I can just reload the save and I can keep looting forever. That’s not the case in Escape From Tarkov, an ultra-hardcore, realistic, first-person survival shooter from Russia-based Battle State Games.
The premise is that you’re a highly-skilled mercenary with the sole mission of escaping the city of Tarkov, which is at the center of a relentless and violent civil warfare. Supply chains are cut, there are no communications in or out, and you’ll be lucky to get your hands on a reliable map, let alone the typical GPS-laden offerings you find in most other shooters.
Batman Gets a New Costume for 2018
Warning: this article contains minor spoilers for Doomsday Clock #3!
Superman isn't the only DC hero getting a new costume in 2018. Batman's look is also being overhauled this year, with the Dark Knight returning to a slightly more traditional Batsuit.
For reference, this is Batman's current costume, one that was designed by artist Greg Capullo and made its debut in 2016's Batman Vol. 2 #50:
Jurassic World to Become Live Arena Show
Jurassic World is getting a live arena show with "life-sized dinosaurs."
Feld Entertainment Inc. will be producing the show, simply titled Jurassic World Live, and it goes on tour in Fall 2019. It will feature dinosaurs (like the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor "Blue" from Jurassic World) measuring up to 40-feet tall, physical stunts, and special effects. Fans will also be transported onto Isla Nublar via projection mapping.
"Feld Entertainment is best-in-class at creating spectacular live experiences, and this show is able to meet the high expectations of fans worldwide who are craving more interaction with Jurassic World dinosaurs," Vince Klaseus President of Universal Brand Development, said.
Bill and Ted 3 Writer Having a Hard Time Getting Financing
Bill and Ted 3 writer Ed Solomon says the project is struggling to find funding in the age of reboots.
Talking to Digital Spy, Solomon said they've "been working for almost 10 years to get this thing made," with a script they've "spent years working on."
"We wanted to get it right, creatively," he said.
Back in 2016, a script for Bill and Ted 3 didn't even exist, and now that particular hurdle has been dealt with, the long-awaited third installment has ground to a halt once more.
PUBG Hits 4 Million Players on Xbox One
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has passed a huge milestone on Xbox One.
The battle royale game now has over four million players on Xbox One, PUBG Corp. announced.
As previously reported, PUBG broke three million Xbox One players less than one month after its December 12, 2017 release, meaning it's gained another million in just a few weeks.
To celebrate this milestone, PUBG Corp. is giving Xbox One players 30,000 free Battle Points which can be used to purchase cosmetic loot boxes.
Blizzard Says Loot Box Odds Are Unchanged After Player Complaints
Overwatch has had a cosmetics update this week consisting of over 100 items for the 26 heroes.
It seems that the new items are hard to come by, and some players are crying foul, but Blizzard assures players that loot box odds haven't changed.
The official Overwatch Twitter account responded to a Twitter user suggesting that the odds of getting epics and legendaries has been lowered since the update, stating that wasn't the case. The user claimed after opening 50 loot boxes, they hadn't found any of the new items rolled out in the update.
New Soulcalibur 6 Character Revealed
Bandai Namco has shared new details about SoulCalibur 6's roster, which will feature a new character named Grøh.
The announcement comes in the form of a new gameplay trailer, which you can view below. Grøh, also known as The Agent in Black, wields a double-ended sword which he can separate into two weapons. Returning favorites Kilik, Nightmare, and Xianghua, who made their debut in the first SoulCalibur, join the roster as well.
Kilik, Nightmare, Xianghua, and Grøh join previously confirmed fighters Mitsurugi and Sophitia. The sixth entry in the long-running fighting game franchise launches this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018.
SoulCalibur 6 will take the franchise back to its origins. It's set in the 16th century and revisits the events of the original game to "uncover hidden truths."
Nintendo Has ‘No Plans’ For Additional Arms Content
Nintendo has been generous with Arms DLC, giving players a slew of fun characters to add to the roster, but the free ride is over.
Game director Kosuke Yabuki told Eurogamer there are no more big updates on the horizon.
"After its launch on 16th June, we released several significant free content updates for ARMS, including five new characters, 12 new ARMS, five new stages, collectible badges, and new modes like Party Crash," Yabuki said.
"More Party Crash events are on the way, and we'll continue to make balance adjustments and other small changes to improve the gaming experience, but we currently have no plans for bigger updates."
