17 Non-Final-Fantasy Characters We Demand to See in the Next Dissidia

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, the latest chapter of Square Enix's arena-fighting-RPG hybrid series, arrives this week. At this point, though, we've already seen most of the tricks Dissidia has up its sleeves — it keeps recycling the same Final Fantasy heroes and concepts. In our opinion, it's time for them to mix things up a little.

After all, Square Enix has a deep bench of game franchises to draw from. There's more to life than Final Fantasy! There's Dragon Quest, and Chrono Trigger, and Tomb Raider, and… well, honestly, the company has more than enough properties to draw on that taking the Smash Bros. approach to Dissidia could make for a pretty wild ride. And a weird one, too.

Monster Hunter World Getting Ryu, Sakura Armor

With Monster Hunter World's release last week, Capcom announced a crossover with Street Fighter 5, featuring themed armor coming to the fighting game. But now Monster Hunter World players can get in on the fun with Street Fighter 5 Ryu and Sakura costumes.

Capcom detailed the outfits and how players can go about getting their hands on them over on the Capcom Unity blog. The costumes are full armor sets that can't be mixed and matched with other armor pieces but can be equipped by both male and female hunters. They will even change your hunter's voice to that of Ryu or Sakura's, depending on whose clothes you've donned.

Best Curved Gaming Monitor 2019: Curved Monitors Designed for PC Gaming

Curved gaming monitors might seem like a gimmick compared to flat-screen displays that work plenty fine, but there are some real advantages to them. With a screen that wraps around your field of view, you can see more of the display at a glance and reducing the need to shift your focus to different parts of the screen. On top of reducing eye strain, a curved monitor creates a more immersive, distortion-free viewing experience.

We completed hours of hands-on (or eyes-on) testing with a huge collection of curved gaming monitors, ranging in size from 27" up to a massive, (ultra-)ultrawide 49" model. Based on our testing and consideration of price, features, and performance, here are our picks for the best curved gaming monitors.

How Chen’s Struggles Inspired Journey’s Emotional Ending

The personal struggles thatgamecompany founder Jenova Chen faced during the development of Journey were instrumental in shaping the emotional snow sequence that immediately precedes the game's conclusion.

On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, Chen discussed how the hardships he faced during development inspired Journey's arduous snow climb. "The struggle we went through in the last year of Journey was pretty insane, and I think that is also why when I was working on the struggle level I was able to channel my own struggle into the game," Chen said.

Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Roster Discovered by Dataminers

Dragon Ball FighterZ was released last week, but it's already been datamined, revealing what appears to be the full list of DLC characters to come.

ResetEra member TDLink shared the list, which featured eight additional fighters as well as two modes, called Z Union and Z League.

These entries appear to be for in-game avatars, rather than fully playable characters, but TDLink points out that these are the only 8 avatars not currently in the game, making them a good guide for who will be released later.

Here's the list of additional avatars that have been datamined:

Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition Gets a Release Date

Square Enix has announced a February 9 release date for Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition.

Siliconera has translated a report from Square Enix Japan, which indicates that you can pre-register your interest on both the App Store and Google Play.

The game has a chibi art style and the opening is exactly the same as Final Fantasy XV's. Pocket Edition will be split over 10 episodes and has a chance of being ported to the Switch in the place of a Final Fantasy 15 port, which didn't run very well on the Switch because the console couldn't “bring out the most of the engine”.
