Media Molecule Details Dreams’ Story Mode

As part of the game's re-reveal ahead of a 2018 release, Media Molecule has offered some details about Dreams' main story mode, its creation tools, and the social aspects including in the creation-focused game.

Media Molecule's Alex Evans, Siobhan Reddy, and Mark Healey joined Double Fine's Tim Schafer on stage during PSX 2017 to explain what exactly players can expect from the narrative in a game so focused on user-generated content.

Dreams will feature three intertwined stories, which gave the developers the ability to explore different genres and gameplay ideas rather than sticking to just one. The story will focus on a man named Art, who appeared in Dreams' The Game Awards 2017 trailer, and the characters within his dreams.

Death Stranding: Everything You Missed in the New Trailer

The new Death Stranding trailer may have left you more confused than you were before about the upcoming game from Kojima Productions, but there are actually a lot of interesting details to dig into. Some shed more light on the state of the world Hideo Kojima has created, while others may hint at possible gameplay elements. Let’s dive in.

The first thing we see is a patch of vegetation rapidly growing and dying, as Norman Reedus’ character — who we later learn is named Sam — explains the course of the world. He mentions an explosion which gave birth to time, space, and life as we know it, an obvious reference to the scientific Big Bang theory. Later in the trailer, he mentions the “next explosion,” an “explosion that will be our last.”

Breath of the Wild Almost Had Dual Hookshots With Movement ‘Like Spider-Man’

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features nods to many classic Zelda games, but one fan-favorite item is noticeably absent: the hookshot. While the developers of Breath of the Wild have spoken briefly about the hookshot’s absence in the past, we sat down with them in an interview following The Game Awards to ask exactly why it didn’t make the cut.

“We did consider using

to climb, and then you’d parasail down,” series producer Eiji Aonuma told IGN. “But initially when we had the hookshot

, it was always that you target something, and that was a game mechanic of itself. But that kind of defeated the purpose of what we wanted to accomplish in Breath of the Wild. With the hookshot, we always had to give it towards the end of the game, or else players could just go anywhere. But in this game, you could do that by climbing and parasailing.”

Louis C.K. Reportedly Buying Back I Love You, Daddy

Louis C.K. is buying back the global rights to his film I Love You, Daddy from distributor the Orchard.

This comes in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct made against C.K., which he has since confirmed are true. Deadline reports the Orchard suspended its distribution plans for the film's mid-November release following these allegations, and is now wrapping up a deal with C.K. to return all rights to him.

The Orchard gained worldwide rights to I Love You, Daddy for $5 million at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. C.K. will reportedly pay back any money received from the deal, as well as any marketing costs incurred by the Orchard, which are said to be anywhere from $500,000 to $1 million.

Zelda Director Explains Why You Can’t Pet Breath of the Wild’s Dogs

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild offers nearly limitless freedom, incredible set pieces, and a reinvention of almost every classic Zelda mechanic. But even with so many options, it lacks one critical opportunity: the chance to pet the good dogs you meet at various stables and towns, an oversight that many players (including IGN staff members) have noticed since launch.

With many good boys unable to be pet, we spoke to series producer Eiji Aonuma and game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi about why such an adorable feature was omitted.
