Police Warn of Creepy Clown Sightings Due to IT
With Stephen King's IT set to hit theaters next weekend, Pennsylvania State Police are warning of the return of last year's creepy clown phenomenon.
"With the fall of 2017 upon us, it is anticipated that similar ‘creepy clown’ sightings could be reported starting as soon as September, in part due to the fact that the movie IT will be released in theaters on 9/8/2017," said the state police department, as reported by CBS Philly.
"The movie, which is adapted from a Stephen King novel by the same name, portrays an evil demon who takes on the shape of a clown named Pennywise, 'that stalks kids from within the sewers and killing them when they least expect it.'"
Shadow of War Developer Memorialized With Charity DLC
Middle-earth: Shadow of War executive producer Michael Forgey lost his battle with cancer last year at the age of 43. To help ease the burden on his surviving family, and as a way to honor his enthusiasm for both his work and playing music, WB Games is offering a DLC character in his likeness.
The $5 USD download adds Forthog Orc-Slayer to the game, named after the Monolith band in which Forgey was a member. The Orc-Slayer shows up at random intervals, one-hit destroying whichever Orc your character is currently facing.
Forthog wields a weaponized guitar, using it to melee, and utterly destroy, orc opponents. The game's caption refers to him as the "Mysterious Savior" in the video trailer for the DLC.

What to Watch Now That Game of Thrones is Over
With Game of Thrones' seventh season now officially over and the extra long night setting in until the eighth and final season begins (reports have it premiering sometime in 2019!), you're definitely going to need some shows to fill the void.
You're going to want something with top shelf drama, intrigue, mystery, and spectacle. Maybe not something with dragons specifically because the only other series with a mystical dragon right now is Iron Fist (sort of), but definitely something with scope and breadth.
Here are our humble suggestions of shows for you to absorb during the down time. It's an excellent collection of series that represent some truly tremendous TV. Most of them are newer shows, though you can also check out some of the ones we recommend last year when Thrones went on break, like BSG and Lost.

How Working on Halo Inspired Gearbox to Make Borderlands
Gearbox Software's work on the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved was instrumental in the creation of Borderlands, according to Gearbox CEO and president Randy Pitchford.
On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, Pitchford explained how working with Bungie's game engine to bring Halo to PC led to a new way of thinking that helped the studio invent some of the technology that powers Borderlands.
"It taught us a lot of stuff," Pitchford said of Bungie's engine. "The thing I think was the most profound was how everything was data driven." He added that while it's "totally different architecture" and "different practices," the studio "took that seed of thinking" and "developed a new way of thinking that led to how we invented this technology that lets us procedurally generate all the weapons in Borderlands."
17 Movies to Geek Out Over Before Star Wars: The Last Jedi
In a year full of blockbuster sequels and reboots, no movie is more eagerly anticipated than Star Wars: The Last Jedi. At long last, we'll see Luke Skywalker step out of the shadows and train Rey in the ways of the Force.
But as tough as it is for any upcoming film to compete with a new Star Wars movie, this fall is nevertheless shaping up to be a pretty great time for movie geeks of all stripes.
Here are 17 upcoming films that should help fill that Star Wars-shaped hole in your life for the next few months:
Hollywood studios are surely hoping that moviegoers will keep heading to the theater leading up to The Last Jedi. The industry recently suffered the single worst weekend box office in over 12 years, a fitting cap to a generally sluggish summer. But it hasn't been all bad news. Wonder Woman recently became the highest-grossing superhero origin movie ever, and Stephen King's IT is currently tracking to have the biggest opening weekend ever for a Stephen King movie.
Leonardo DiCaprio Reportedly Eyed for Joker Origins Movie
Warner Bros. reportedly plans to use producer Martin Scorcese to lure longtime collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio to play the lead in the in-development Joker origin story movie.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the studio would like DiCaprio (or another extremely high-profile actor) to play the Joker "as a gritty crime boss in a Scorsese-esque Gotham underworld." However, no offer has yet been made.
The split between this standalone movie and ongoing DC Extended Universe projects has seemingly already confused one big name - current Joker actor Jared Leto (who, in Suicide Squad, already portrayed the iconic villain as a crime boss of sorts) was apparently surprised and upset by the idea of another actor taking on the role. Leto is currently lined up to reprise the Joker in Suicide Squad 2, and the Joker & Harley Quinn spin-off movie.
