Game of Thrones Theory: Why Volantis Could Be Important

Volantis is a location we've seen in Seasons 5 and 6 of Game of Thrones and heard mentioned a handful of times, most recently in "The Queen's Justice." The Essos city, the most populated of the Free Cities and home to many followers of the Lord of Light, could have an important role to play in the coming war against the next Long Night and the White Walkers.

Below we discuss the possible importance of Volantis to the future of the series. Warning: Full spoilers for Game of Thrones: Season 7 continue below.

The most recent installment of Game of Thrones brought ice and fire together and almost featured what would have been a super awkward, likely bloody reunion between Melisandre, Jon Snow and Ser Davos Seaworth. Melisandre was surprisingly aware of the mistakes she'd made in the past and that neither of the visitors from Winterfell would be thrilled to find her at Dragonstone. Her presence might have been enough to cause them to leave without talking to Daenerys.

Arrowverse Crossover: More Details on “Four-Part Event”

UPDATE: Executive producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim offered more details on the upcoming Arrowverse crossover. When asked to speak to the "romance is in the air" tease, Berlanti said, "Our way of making the show bigger this year was to go even more personal, so it's a big life event for a few different people on the show." Like a wedding? "There are many life events that happen."

Guggenheim said, "We're really approaching this big four-part event as two back-to-back two hour movies, and I think when you look at it through that lens, it becomes less important for the Supergirl episode to feel like a Supergirl episode and the Arrow episode to feel like an Arrow episode, which was always our approach in the past."

Arrowverse Crossover Dates Set for Fall 2017 TV Season

Another major DC TV crossover is coming to The CW, and the network has announced when fans can expect to watch the Arrowverse come together.

During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, The CW President Mark Pedowitz announced that the four-show crossover will kick off on Monday, November 27 with Supergirl, followed by Arrow, which for that week will move to Monday from its new Thursday time slot.

The crossover will then conclude on Tuesday, November 28, starting off the night with The Flash and then concluding with Legends of Tomorrow.

"Last year's crossover was the most successful week, I believe, in CW history," Pedowitz said. "We felt that in this particular case we already had Flash and Legends paired. It would be better and tighter to do it like a two-two hours mini series."
