SplatNet For The Original Splatoon Closing

The online service SplatNet for the original Splatoon is shutting down its service on September 30, 2017.

This closure won't affect online battles and only impacts SplatNet itself, which allows players to check their stats, equipment, available stages and friend status through a website.

SplatNet's closure will occur just over a month before Nintendo also shuts down its social networking service Miiverse in November. Miiverse currently supports the Wii U and 3DS systems and over 100 games will be impacted by its demise but some like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 will take the hit harder than others.

Destiny 2 Osiris DLC Reportedly Adds Mercury Patrol Zone

The first piece of DLC to release for Destiny 2 appears to feature the space wizard Osiris as well as a new patrol zone.

Kotaku reports a source revealed details about Destiny 2's first DLC pack, titled The Curse of Osiris, which is looking to release in December this year.

As the name implies, this DLC focuses on saving Osiris: a character we've never seen in the game, but has been talked about throughout the lore.

The DLC also looks to include a Mercury patrol zone, as well as a new social space at the exclusive Lighthouse. The Lighthouse was available to original Destiny players who managed a perfect run on the Trials Passage during the Trials of Osiris event.

Who Are the Major Heroes and Villains of Flashpoint?

DC's 2011 Flashpoint crossover has left quite an impact. Not only did that storyline pave the way for DC's New 52 comics, it's been adapted in both animated (Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox) and live-action form (via The CW's Flash series). And now Flashpoint is headed to the big screen, as it'll form the basis for the DCEU's upcoming Flash movie.

Barry Allen may be the star of Flashpoint, but he's just one player in a saga that includes dozens of heroes and villains fighting for survival in a war-ravaged version of the DCU. To help get you prepped for the Flashpoint movie, here are the most important characters in the original comics. Spoilers follow for the original Flashpoint comics story...

Dishonored 2 Almost Had Emily Walking on Walls

At QuakeCon last week, I caught up with Dishonored’s Creative Director Harvey Smith to talk about Dishonored: Death of the Outsider and the series as a whole.

After discussing Billie Lurk’s new abilities in the upcoming game (you can see them in the video below) I asked Smith if there were any crazy abilities they had tested that ended up on the cutting room floor. Smith revealed that early in development they had planned to let Emily Kaldwin defy gravity.

“In Dishonored 2 we talked about letting Emily walk on walls and ceilings,” Smith told me, “but our version of that was going to be literally changing the way gravity works.”

Street Fighter 2 Getting Special Edition Super NES Cartridge

To celebrate 30 years of street fighting action, iam8bit and Capcom have teamed up to release a 1990's nostalgia-fueled special edition of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.

This isn't just some repackaged re-release, either. It's an actual, working Super Nintendo cartridge in a tri-fold box and includes a "premium instruction booklet," along with "retro pack-in surprises."

There are two variants of this amazing cartridge: one in "Opaque Ryu Headband Red" and the other in "Glow in the Dark Blanka Green." The glowing cart is translucent in addition to luminescent, so it's got even more '90s cred.

The red version is limited to 4,500 copies, while the glow in the dark variant is limited to just 1,000. And they're randomly inserted into the packages, too, so buying one is a bit of a roll of the dice. But that makes it exciting, too.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild Glitch Removes Cel-Shaded Look

A graphical glitch in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that removes the game's cartoon art style has been discovered.

As evidenced in the video below, the cel-shading effect is not applied when viewing Link in a specific broken alcove on the Bridge of Hylia, giving the character model a more doll-like look.

Reddit users first spotted the glitch, but to experience this visual trick for yourself, head over to our Breath of the Wild bugs and glitches guide.
