Death Note: Dafoe “Didn’t Feel the Need” to Know the Manga

Although Willem Dafoe has actively attempted to diversify his roles for the past four decades, his most recognizable parts are almost always villains. From To Live and Die In L.A., Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Shadow of the Vampire, and Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Dafoe is one of Hollywood’s most reliable bad guys. This week, Dafoe has another villainous turn in the Netflix original film, Death Note (read our review here). The movie, which is now streaming on Netflix, is based upon the wildly popular manga series, and Dafoe provides the voice for Ryuk, the otherworldly Shinigami who sets the events of the story in motion.

Future Dishonored Games Would Have Different Characters

Dishonored 2's upcoming expansion Death of the Outsider will conclude the Kaldwin era, so, according to Arkane Studios creative director Harvey Smith, a hypothetical third installment would feature an entirely new set of characters.

Speaking to IGN at Quakecon about Death of the Outsider, Smith confirmed the expansion wraps up the current narrative narrative arc, noting that most of those playing it will "probably be Dishonored fans wanting to see the finale of the arc that we've made."

When asked if this means there won't be a Dishonored 3, Smith said he's not yet certain if there will be more games in the series. "I don't know yet. I kind of hope there are more Dishonored games, but I honestly don't know," he explained.

Aquaman: Willem Dafoe on His Character’s “Good Look”

Aquaman cast member Willem Dafoe wouldn't tell us much about that film (or his turn in Justice League, for that matter) during our recent phone chat, but he did shed a little light on his character Vulko's costume and his shooting schedule on the DC Comics superhero film. (There have been no official publicity photos released yet featuring Dafoe's character.)

Nuidis Vulko is the science advisor of Atlantis and an Aquaman supporting character from the DC Comics. As in the comics, Vulko has known Aquaman his whole life and is part of the Atlantean inner circle. "Vulko is 100% Atlantean. So that's different, because

is half-Atlantean and half-human," Dafoe told IGN.

"So they're quite different and I'm capable of being outside of the water, but mostly it's underwater. And I'm a guy that's been around for a while. I have a kind of... let's call it an armor. It's a good look, I like it a lot."
