The All-New IGN Movies Podcast Is Here

We're baaaaa-aaaaack! Yes, we're months overdue but the brand new IGN Movies Podcast is finally here!

Succeeding where our previous show, the now-retired Keepin' It Reel, left off, IGN Entertainment's Jim Vejvoda and Terri Schwartz are back to talk about movies, movies, and movies!

In this premiere episode, we're joined by our video producer Tom Jorgensen to talk FULL SPOILERS about Spider-Man: Homecoming! (Save and listen to this podcast AFTER you've seen the new Marvel movie because otherwise, well, we'll spoil it for you, duh!)

As this is just our first episode, expect some fine-tuning ahead and a different format in future episodes than Keepin' It Reel listeners were accustomed to, with a less news-driven angle and more opinion and topic-driven discussions instead.

Joker Turns Sane in Batman: White Knight

DC announcing a new Batman comic isn't exactly shocking news, but Batman: White Knight features a pretty unique selling point. This upcoming mini-series will feature Joker as the hero and Batman as the villain.

White Knight features Sean Gordon Murphy (Tokyo Ghost) as both writer and artist and will run for seven issues beginning in October.

Supergirl Casts Smallville’s Erica Durance as Alura for S3

Erica Durance, best known for her role as Lois Lane in Smallville, has joined the cast of Supergirl and will play Alura in Season 3.

The actress will appear as Kara's mother in a recurring arc, taking over for Laura Benanti, who "was unable to continue in the role due to work commitments in NY," according to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

"We are so blessed that Erica has come aboard to offer her own interpretation of Kara's mother," Kreisberg added. "We had tremendous success with a former Lois Lane last season with Teri Hatcher. We know Erica will continue the proud tradition of legacy actors joining our shows and creating new and exciting takes on classic DC characters."

Laser Tag, Redefined

Until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t thought about laser tag in over a decade. My childhood experiences with the hobby were just okay, and were quickly forgotten after the discovery of more visceral pastimes like airsoft and paintball. So when I was shown the cheesy promotional material and asked if I wanted to leave the office on a busy Wednesday morning to play “AR Laser Tag,” I was more than a little skeptical. But what followed was two hours of absolute bliss, Recoil has completely redefined my concept of what laser tag can be.

Doomfist Is Overwatch’s First Real Villain and That’s Good

Blizzard made waves ahead of the weekend by revealing the next hero to join the ever-expanding roster of Overwatch. To say that fans have been waiting for Doomfist would be an understatement; since his gauntlet was a plot point in the announcement trailer, anticipation for him has nearly rivaled that of Sombra.

After a tease earlier in the week about his escape from prison, the long-awaited Doomfist will soon be available for the masses to get their hands on. He’s sadly not voiced by Terry Crews like the actor had hoped, but hey, take the good with the bad, right?

Doomfist, real name Akande Ogundimu, is actually the third person to have the moniker — on the Numbani map, the banner for him simply labels him as “the Successor,” and his backstory doesn’t have any trouble painting him as a villain. Originally the heir to a prosthetic-technology company based in Nigeria, Akande alternated between expanding his family’s company for the future and being a competitive martial artist. When the Omnic Crisis came and he lost his right arm, his continued devotion to the company and his replacement prosthetic caught the attention of one Akinjide Adeyemi, the second Doomfist. It wasn’t long before Adeyemi took him under his wing as a member of Talon, and soon, Akande wound up killing his teacher and taking the famous gauntlet for himself. In that time, he became one of the leaders of Talon, the organization that Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra currently find themselves members of.

Fable Fortune Release Date Delayed

Fable Fortune, the collectible card game set in the Fable universe, has been delayed to July 25.

The Fable spinoff was previously scheduled to come to PC in Early Access and Xbox One in Xbox Game Preview on July 11. But, due to "an administration hiccup," developers Mediatonic and Flaming Fowl Studios aren't able to launch the Xbox One version of the game next week.

As such, in order to release the PC and Xbox One versions simultaneously and make the most of cross-play between the two platforms, Fable Fortune's launch has been pushed back a few weeks.

A Kickstarter for Fable Fortune, which started as a secret project following the closure of Lionhead Studios, launched last year. The Kickstarter campaign quickly ended when additional funding was secured to help make the title a reality.
