New Spider-Man and Avengers Disney Attractions Teased
Disney hinted at new Marvel attractions for Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort during its parks and resorts panel at D23.
Bob Chapek, Disney's parks and resorts chairman, revealed Spider-Man and The Avengers will be joining Guardians of the Galaxy, but didn't go into specifics.
An official blog post from Disney Parks calls it a "completely immersive Super Hero universe," where guests can "team up with your favorite Super Heroes like never before."
Guardians of the Galaxy has already made its mark in the park, and a new Guardians of the Galaxy ride was also announced for Epcot Center at Walt Disney World.
Disney World Adding Fully Immersive Star Wars Hotel
During the Parks and Resorts panel at D23 Expo, Disney announced an incredibly ambitious Star Wars resort is coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando - one designed to essentially make you feel as though you are staying as a guest at a hotel inside the Star Wars universe.
In an accompanying announcement post from the Disney Parks blog, Disney Parks chairman Bob Chapek, describing the still-unnamed Star Wars resort, said, "It's unlike anything that exists today. From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”
New Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Announced for Epcot Center
Disney announced new attractions for Epcot Center at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, among which is an all-new Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
It doesn't look like this is the same Mission: Breakout at California Adventure, but is a "new way" to experience Guardians of the Galaxy.
Also announced are a Ratatouille ride and a new Tron ride.
Ratatouille will also be at Epcot Center, and is an updated version of the ride at Disneyland Paris. The entire France section of Epcot is being expanded, adding a new area near the Eiffel Tower.
The Tron ride is coming to Tomorrowland, in an entirely new area by Space Mountain. It's the same ride as the one found at Shanghai Disney.
New Mickey Mouse Ride Coming to Disney World
The first ever Mickey Mouse ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World was revealed during a panel at D23.
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Train features "mind-boggling transformations that happen right before your very eyes," according to Kevin Rafferty, Disney Imagineer.
The ride begins as though you're watching a new Mickey and Minnie short. On their way to a picnic, the duo passes a train with Goofy as the engineer.
From there, "you’ll get to step into the movie screen and onto Goofy’s train," Rafferty said.
"We’re doing this by creating for the first-time ever a totally new experience we’re calling 'Two and a half D,' he told the audience at the Parks and Resorts panel. "No glasses required."
Disneyland Reveals New Star Wars Land Details
During the Disney Parks and Resorts panel at D23, Disney revealed details of the upcoming Star Wars-themed land, along with its official title - Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
Both Disneyland and Disney World are getting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in 2019, with the Disneyland version in Anaheim opening first. No exact dates were given during the panel.
While based in the modern era of Star Wars attractions, Rex from the original Star Tours will be involved.
On top of that, BB-8, Chewbacca and Kylo Ren were announced as characters that you'll encounter along the way in Galaxy's Edge, along with Hondo from Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
It's been a crazy day for news from D23, with Disney showing a behind the scenes The Last Jedi featurette, along with some pretty excellent The Last Jedi character posters.

Live Action Lion King Footage Perfectly Captures Animated Classic
The first look at Disney's upcoming live action The Lion King film from director John Favreau was shown at D23 Expo, and goodness gracious, it knocked my damn socks off.
Disney has turned a lot of its animated classics into live action films already, and with new takes on Dumbo, Aladdin and Mulan on the horizon, it's not stopping anytime soon. But Favreau proved with The Jungle Book that the technology developed to bring these animals to life through CGI did create an immersive new adventure that justified its existence.
