Star Fox 2’s Programmer Is as Surprised as You Are

It was announced today that the never-before-released Star Fox 2 is one of the 21 games included in the Super NES Classic, due to hit shelves (hopefully widely) on September 29.

IGN Japan got the chance to have a quick chat with the game's programmer  (and now head of Q-Games) Dylan Cuthbert about the surprising announcement, the differences between the Super NES Classic version of the game and the various leaked builds that are available online, and the challenges of developing Star Fox 2 before Nintendo officially pulled the plug on it 22 years ago. Check out our interview with Cuthbert below.

Tremors Star Bacon Back for TV Reboot of the Horror Movie

US network Syfy is circling a Tremors TV series, which will see Kevin Bacon returning to his role as Valentine McKee.

According to Variety, the network has picked up a pilot which could potentially spin into a series set 25 years after the 1990 flick left off. The set up sounds a little similar Starz's Ash vs Evil Dead spin off: Valentine must return to the small town of Perfection to defend it against the killer Graboid worms, but will have to "overcome age, alcphol and a delusional hero complex".

“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting,” Bacon told Variety. “I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years? Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”

Super Famicom Mini Announced, Includes Fire Emblem

In case you haven't heard, Nintendo revealed the Super NES Classic today, the 16-bit follow-up to the highly sought-after NES Classic. True to form, Nintendo announced the Super Famicom Mini for Japan, and it's everything as wonderful as you hoped it would be.

There are some key differences in the Super Famicom Mini and the Super NES Classic, most obviously in the design and aesthetic of the box and device itself. But inside, there are some differences in the included games.

The Super Famicom Mini gives up Super Castlevania IV, Super Punch-Out, Kirby's Dream Course, and EarthBound, and replaces them with The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, known as Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyūshutsu Emaki, Super Formation Soccer, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and Panel de Pon, known in the west as Tetris Attack.

Top 10 RPG Worlds of All Time

Out of every genre, role-playing games have given us some of the most awesome, beautiful, terrifying, and fascinating worlds to explore. In celebration of the hours we’ve spent exploring and adventuring in them, here are our top 10 RPG worlds of all time.

Many games are set in outer space, but few have really captured the essence of space travel and intergalactic civilization the way EVE Online has. Exploring the New Eden galaxy and its over 5000 star systems and 2500 wormhole systems must be done manually, via spaceship. While EVE by no means prioritizes realism, it does keep many of its elements grounded in slow-paced management-heavy gameplay, especially with its complex player-driven economy. These elements, combined with the backstories of each major faction, are a perfect fit for the literal universe that has been home to some of the most exciting online space battles and dramatic player-driven epics in video game history.

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Update Balances Loot

The next update for Playerunknown's Battlegrounds will adjust the game's loot system, as well as add two weapons in addition to other changes.

According to a developer post, Bluehole Studio discovered a bug causing certain items to spawn more or less than the studio intended. As a result, the latest Battlegrounds update will see adjustments made both to address the bug and user feedback on particular weapons. Bluehole will continue to make adjustments as needed.

For the next update, the VSS will no longer appear in Care Packages but will still be spawned on the map. There will also be a low probability chance of collecting AR Silencers,SR Silencers, and 4x Scopes from Care Packages. A new weapon, the Groza, will also be added to Care Packages.

SNES Classic: Will Nintendo Learn From its Past Launch Mistakes?

I’m probably not the only old-school Nintendo fan with conflicting emotions today. On the one hand, the long-rumored/expected Super NES Classic was announced, and it sounds awesome! Two controllers, 21 games including several bona-fide all-time classics, and even the unreleased Star Fox 2. Yes!! On the other hand, Nintendo flat-out bungled the launch of the NES Classic, which was a gimme putt as far as system launches go. What should’ve been a uniting moment of universally celebrated nostalgia was instead a months-long slog of frustration, unceremoniously capped off by the quiet discontinuation of the NES Classic in April, assuring that many fans would never get their hands on the tiny trip down video game memory lane.
