Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 Release Date, Details Revealed

Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 will release September 12 in North America and September 14 in Europe.

Konami says PES 2018 will see more new additions to the franchise than there's been in a decade. Improvements noted by the company include PC enhancements for console parity, a fresh user interface with a broadcast feel, and adjusted control systems — like strategic dribbling — for more fluidity.

The visuals also are getting a new can of paint, particularly with the animation and lighting systems. Konami is expanding the online portions of PES 2018 too, offering full 11-vs.-11 matches as well as co-operative 2-vs.-2 and 3-vs.-3 modes.

Speaking of online, Konami is keeping its eye on the eSports ball, saying PES 2018 will have PES League "fully integrated into the main game."

Ubisoft Clarifies Avatar Game Release Window Plans

Ubisoft offered an update on its major releases for the next two upcoming years, including a new Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 5, and more. Not included in the update was Massive Entertainment's Avatar game, and Ubisoft has clarified that players shouldn't expect it in the next couple of years.

During today's Ubisoft earnings call, the publisher outlined plans to release eight AAA games in the next two years, but the Avatar game will not be one of them. In a statement provided to IGN, a representative for Ubisoft confirmed that there are no plans to release the game well ahead of Avatar 2's December 18, 2020 release date. According to Ubisoft, the new Avatar game "won't be released before FY21," or fiscal year 2021. For Ubisoft's financial calendar, that means the Avatar game will not be debuted before April 1, 2020.

11 Villains We Love to Hate

No matter the medium, most stories are only as good as their villains. Whether its an intergalactic entity bent on obliterating existence, or an ornery teacher with a penchant for punishment, a great antagonist is there to constantly provide friction between our heroes and their ultimate goals. But the best villains carry a sort of gravity to them that makes it impossible for us to look away.

Here are 11 of the villains we love hating the most.

BioShock is one of the defining games of the past decade, and Andrew Ryan’s incredible presence is no small part of that. The founder of his “paradise” known as Rapture, Ryan’s voice in the player’s ear acts as the carrot on the stick that propels each and every action you take. His selfish actions ultimately led to the downfall of the city, and the brutal demise of all of its citizens. But Ryan’s lasting legacy comes in the revelations during the final moments of his life. When both Jack, the character you control, as well as the players themselves come to the realization that we’re all just pawns in a much larger scheme, the phrases “Would you kindly?” and “A man chooses, a slave obeys,” became forever etched in video game history. -- Marty Sliva
