Suicide Squad Director in Early Talks to Helm Scarface

Suicide Squad director David Ayer is in early talks to direct Universal's Scarface reboot.

IGN can confirm Ayer is in early talks to both helm and rewrite the new take on the brand, which has previously been made into films released in 1932 and 1983. However, no final deal has been made yet. The Equalizer's Antoine Fuqua has previously been attached to tackle the film.

Rogue One's Diego Luna, who played Cassian Andor in last year's Star Wars film, is attached to star. No word yet if he'll play Tony Montana. Earlier this year, David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) and Peter Berg (Patriots Day) were reportedly the frontrunners to helm the reboot.

In fact, IGN's very own Terri Schwartz saw the film early and shared her thoughts on Twitter, saying she thinks it's the best of the DCEU films yet.

Pennywise Explained

That creepy clown Pennywise is back in a big way these days thanks to the huge success of last year's movie version of the 1986 Stephen King novel, It (which of course followed the 1990 TV adaptation of the same story). Yes indeed, Pennywise gonna get ya -- he looms large in the horror pantheon and inspires a lot of thought; there’s even one of those Internet “fan theories” (ugh) that suggests Pennywise is the same entity that appears as Killer Bob in Twin Peaks!

Now as the sequel to the film, It: Chapter 2, is ramping up and casting news is breaking (Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, James McAvoy, James Ransone, and Andy Bean will play the adult versions of the It kids, with Bill Skarsgård returning as the dastardly clown of the title), we figured it was time to once again explore who exactly Pennywise is and what his true nature is all about. So, let’s get going down into the sewers; after all, we all float down there…

Destiny 2: PS4 Pro “Couldn’t Run” Game at 60fps

Destiny 2 will run at a 4K resolution on PS4 Pro, but will be locked to 30 frames per second because of CPU constraints.

Speaking to IGN, game director Luke Smith confirmed that, "it will not run at 60 on the Pro. I don't want people to continue to hope, we're going to be matter-of-fact about that stuff."

"The PS4 Pro is super-powerful, but it couldn't run our game at 60", he added. "Our game's this rich physics simulation, with collision and players, networking etc. It wouldn't run - not enough horsepower there yet."

Project lead Mark Noseworthy explained that while the GPU was powerful enough to render at 4K, it was the CPU that was to blame for the lower frame rate.

Mantis Co-Creator Not a Fan of Guardians 2’s Take on the Character

Mantis co-creator Steve Englehart isn't a fan of the way the character is depicted in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

In an interview with Polygon, Englehart revealed that the character in the Marvel sequel "has nothing to do with Mantis." Even though Englehart enjoyed the film and thought "the Mantis on the screen was entertaining," he still couldn't ignore the film's wildly different interpretation of her.

"I really don’t know why you would take a character who is as distinctive as Mantis is and do a completely different character and still call her Mantis," said Englehart. "I liked her, but that’s not Mantis."
