14 Live-Action Anime Remakes in the Works

We all know about the video game movie curse, but what about the anime curse?

Live-action and anime have rarely gone together well, but still, just about every major Hollywood studio is trying to jump in on anime with live-action remakes these days.

Would you have ever thought that an Alita movie would make $400 million at the box office? Imagine what a good Naruto or Attack on Titan movie could do. Or imagine how much attention a Cowboy Bebop or Sword Art Online remake could bring for a company like Netflix. Those are just four of the live-action anime remakes that are reportedly in the works at the moment. Some are further along than others in their development -- and some may be stuck in development hell for that matter -- but with Tokyo Ghoul S about to get a theatrical release, we figured it was a good time to check up on the status of them all...

Marvel’s Inhumans Explained

The Inhumans are about to get their moment in the MCU sun… so to speak. Oddly, although these mysterious figures from Marvel Comics history played a role in several seasons of the television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the upcoming Inhumans series does not appear to be a spin-off. So we guess, “It’s All Not Quite Entirely Connected All The Time, So Sue Us?”

The ABC TV series, premiering this September, stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, and Mike Moh as Triton. The opening two installments will get a special two-week IMAX run prior to the full first season’s eight-week network airing. Scott Buck of Iron Fist is showrunner, so…that happened. Anyway, let’s find out what these weird and wonderful characters are all about -- it’s time to give you the lowdown on Inhomo Supremis!

Why Quake Champions Is the Evolution of the Arena Shooter

is definitely an arena shooter,” says Tim Willits, creative director at id Software. “It is a true skill-based arena shooter in the spirit of Quake. The champions are definitely an evolution of the

genre, and they are definitely something that adds to the overall game experience. But, at its core – and it’s important to note – it is Quake. Keeping that DNA, that essence of what Quake is, was always very important to us. I feel very confident that we have captured that Quake feel.”

As Willits has identified, Quake isn’t just any old shooter. It’s an arena shooter. As an old-school fan who was blooded on Quake deathmatch, the arena shooter sub-genre refers to some very specific tenets.

Why Schwarzenegger Turned Down the New Predator Movie

Arnold Schwarzenegger has opened up on why he won't be appearing in the new Predator sequel.

When Yahoo asked the star if he'd be working with director Shane Black on the sequel, Schwarzenegger replied by saying he simply didn't like the offer.

"They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it — whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that."

The actor also confirmed that a sequel to the 1988 comedy Twins is still in the works, stating that "...they’re writing it, and now everyone is enthusiastic about it. It will probably be done in the next month or two, and then hopefully we shoot it by this fall. It’s really exciting."
